Instrument Cluster - Bulb Replacement

I may have to replace a bulb (low fuel) in my 97 M900 instrument cluster.

I have looked at the manual and Google but I can't see how to remove the cluster and how to open the back to get at the bulbs.

Can anyone help please?

Before removing the instruments take off the knob for the odometer. That is held onto the shaft with a small screw and put in a findable safe place.
Then either remove the headlight shell, or the instruments: you don’t have to remove both.
The back of the instrument panel is held in place by two dome headed nuts removal of those allows the plastic cover to be removed, revealing the bulb holders.
I’d change them all whilst in there as they weren’t dear last time I bought some.
Then put it all back as you found it: Simples!

I've just had my M750 instrument cluster apart and found the whole thing can be easily removed from the bike if you unbolt it from the 2 mounts, disconnect the speedo cable and the large electrical/wiring connector. The console can then be dismantled by removing the dome headed nuts on the bench and the bulbs inspected. I'm assuming the 900 is the same.

It can, provided you can get the two special allen bolts to turn. The heads are made of soft cheese and like to strip the hex.

Someone on here was making stainless replacements for the special bolts which are a worthwhile upgrade.

Edit: that was Nasher, but don’t know if he’s still doing them?

That's right and he was and also was supplying the pressed Brembo tab washers for the lever pivot bolts on early goldline master cylinders, which are excellent too (thanks Nash btw) , just a shame no-one can see them!

He's probably neck deep in his 999 Testastretta rebuild atm so probably can't be bothered with those somewhat inferior earlier bikes!
