Adivce on Boots pls!

Hey all,

I'm quite new to "real biking" (used to have scooters before) and wanted to get some advice on purchasing a new pair for commuting and being a weekend warrior.

Would like them to be suitable for all seasons and easy to slip on (no laces)

Any suggestions?

Daytona boots are the best imho.
never had a problem with mine.

I'm a big fan of Sidi boots. IMO they look nice and are very good quality with great protection.

I have an old pair of sidi vertigo they were excellent and super comfy, however the vents would allow water in. I've now got a pair of the race vortice ones and I wouldn't recommend them for anything other than weekend blasts due to them having practically no foot/ankle movement.

a good compromise might be the waterproof ones, I've not tried them but they get excellent reviews.

Try a few on at your local bike shops, see what's comfortable, Daytona for me.

Daytona's. super comfy, lots of protection. Understated colours ( non power ranger) available. Gortex version if you want waterproof. Pricey, but durable. Can replace outer boot if damaged.

Boots, like gloves and lids, tend to be a personal thing. Some makes will be great for one person but horrible for another. Like already said get down a decent store and try a few on.

Altberg for me, the best boots I have ever had, dry, warm and very tough. They even do a full refurb service. so in theory you should never need to buy another pair. I might like to try some Daytonas though as many have recommended those. Best thing as said is go and try some on.

Altberg. There's a very good reason why they are almost universally used by police, military and most bike couriers. Made to measure in Richmond, Yorkshire on a traditional wooden last by a Yorkshireman, it will be many years before you need another set of boots for the bike. They will stay warm and dry long after any Italian "fashion" boots have been worn out and thrown away. They cost the same as a reasonable pair of "branded" boots (and a lot less than some!!) and are comfortable for walking in all day as well. Mine are over 10 years old now and still look almost new ...

I have some Alpinestars Goretex boots for every day. Brilliant. 5 years old now and still one dry, comfortable and warm in winter too.

I have Sidi for the dry days.
