I thought that Apple, after about 2 years, just sent you a software "upgrade" that downgraded the performance of the device so much that you felt you had to buy a new one. That was my experience anyway.

My brother went through 3 iPhone 12s attached to his bike before he realised the magnet in the phone holder was messing them up. All changed under warranty luckily.

come to think of it when (previous) my iphone4 was about a week old, i failed to clip the case to the bars properly, and it bounced over crust’s head at about 110kph in belgium, the case was ****ed but the phone was fine, we eventually found it about 300m up the road! big up for ultimate add-ons. my main gripe with apple has been software updates that suddenly decide a charging cable is no longer ‘approved’… it’s a usb cable for ****s sake!
