Almost 5 years
Well in 2 weeks time its 5 years of ownership for me and my Monster 1100s and in that time I have loved every minute of it. Its become my best monster of the 3 I have owned in 11 years. The only downside for me has been the lacking in mileage I have done on this one due to having health problems noticeable over the last 4 years but it hasn't and won't stop me keeping it and changing it again. The weekender this year got me thinking I don't treat her enough and I missed out on an award by 1 vote and to me that's bad so more effort needed then. I listen and look and try to be different so tonight literally the covers came off and carbon back on while I choose a new look. The decals are now removed so no turning back and in the 4 years I had these done the red wasn't really red enough and I have forever been disappointed with it. I may get them done Ducati red over the coloured parts but my want is aluminium painted or a vinyl wrap like the Race Norton's I was inspired by at last years TT. The front fairing aluminium with a hand made by me aluminium screen and some hand made tank air ducts made by me would be painted red too or powdercoated The rear cowel would have some washed out Italian flags either side I hope many more years of loving this bike and for all the knockers of the modern ones well I am sorry its been brilliant... Never to be seen like this again

Go for it Albie. Some times you see a bike that sparks a new look for your own and the Norton looks stunning.
Chrome paint not easy to do lots of prep and cost involed but looks ace. |

So the wanted tank centres arrived and very grateful for the good deal. Ok they are not perfect in some of the holes but serve my purpose and will glue in some washers. So now I have 3 full tank kits. Tomorrow I hope to take along to the man who can transfer dip for seeing whats available. It may well change but still going along the lines of brushed aluminium.
I also have made a template to make an aluminium screen with a rolled top. The tank decals I am struggling with right now. I may go classic or stock new look in black with monster in red or old school original monsters possible but need to be exact. I have seen a set looking like the Norton style which look fairly good but is that a step too far ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2614781302...84.m1423.l2649 I have some seat cowl decals in mind and they have 3 sizes so should fit ideal in 200mm version Now I just need to find a set of tank air ducts or get Big Oz to weld some together in ally

That would have to be wrapped in vinyl. Transfer dip don't do chrome. If I don't like the film I wont do but I want to see first. I could have skulls or trees or spongebob or even flames. Or pearl carbon fibre on white or yellow or red or red and green. Or camoflage

No, if you was Brad Pitt it would be narcissistic. Not being Brad is what would make it funny. Obviously the rest of the world would think it was weird but if I did it I'd be cracking up inside all day long!
