Monster Servicing
Hi Guys
before I take the plunge, I wonder if any of you can advise about servicing costs Was thinking of the new 796, but what do you think generally the servicing costs will be, for the very first one and then the second one at 12 tkm? What would it be on the 696+ for example? I was told in comparison to the Morini I was looking at it would be MUCH more..... Thanks |

I just had my annual service on my 696 plus the 12K service at the same time.
Cost was £375. I can't really say on the first one as I had some other mods done at the same time, but the first one is just an oil change. Who told you it would be much more? Was it a morini salesma? Was is someone who had a vested interest or knew what they were talking about? I'm nto saying they are wrong, but Ducati servicing has changed recently so you need to make sure you are lsitening to up to date information. My brother-in-law was very damning about Ducatis. When I asked him, when he last owned one, it turned out it was 30 years ago. My info on costs is very recnt (last few months). |

The guy who told me is both a Ducati and Morini dealer :-) He doesnt mind which one he sells me!! He just said running costs are a lot higher on the ducati.....

Just phone another dealer and ask them what the servicing costs are for the first few years. It really should be a consideration for you if you're thinking of paying out for a new bike anyway. As Lisy said, servicing costs have changed a lot in the last few years on the new bikes.

spoke to a ducati dealer about the monster, basically 300-400 euro for the 12 tkm and 600 - 800 euro for the 24 tkm. I was just interested in how that compared to the morini - am trying to find that out now
Costs are not a major factor, just hate paying out massive sums of money for servicing if the bike is a luxury and not a way of travelling daily - and with me it isnt.... So if a once a year costs loads although I amy have only covered a minimal amount of miles, then yes, here it is a factor.... |

Ducati has reduced servicing costs (by up to 50%?) for people who do low mileages.
I would ask your dealer, but I think the basic gist of it is that they do not do everything now after 12 months if you have low mileage, whereas before they would do everything on the schedule regardless of mileage. This is why you need up to date info as prices reduced consideraby quite recently (last year??) |

Will be cheaper then for you to ride the bike from Berlin to the UK for a service & ride back - will STILL save euros from getting it done in Germany!

I would say there will be not much between 696 and 796, there is not much to save between s2r 800 and s2r 1000 (pads and chain mainly but that is consumable and depends from riding style).
