Cheers Mick.

It was, indeed the ethanol at the epoxy......horrifying after only 6 weeks max......

Luckily Stuart at ExactUk sent out a replacement sharpish and I fitted it this morning......and she's alive once more.....I did notice that the replacement pot had a different colour (clear) epoxy rather than the black epoxy in the one it is replacing, so hopefully its better epoxy as far as ethanol resilience goes

Good service from ExactUk. Glad you're back on the road again.

Being an American product, I'm surprised it failed so soon due to ethanol corrosion. It presumably was designed to operate in US gasoline, which contains more ethanol than ours (usually up to 10% and even 15% is available). Although suppliers are now permitted to add up to 10% here, no one yet does so and 5% is the maximum content at the moment.

If you're worried, stick to Esso Synergy Supreme+, which is still ethanol-free.

I must have been the lucky customer who got "the first faulty one in the 5 years they have been supplying it to the uk" ;o)
