Hi from Lowestoft
Hi Guys ...
I'm Lisa with a ridiculous surname (Simpson) so most people tend to remember me !! Total newcomer to the whole bike scene. Decided that life was passing me by and i should get out there and grab it with both hands. I figured 43 wasn't too old to start riding right ?? Passed test 9th July this year and took delivery of a Monster 796 19th August. Still finding my feet so to speak as i'm not exactly known for being very tall. Added a lower seat which kinda helped, but there are days i still feel a wee bit wobbly. I've been assured that these days will become less and less the more i ride, hope so, cos its so much fun Anyway, just wanted to say Hello |

Hi Lisa - bienvenu parmi nous or welcome to the family.
I spent a fair bit of time in Lowestoft back in the 90s working for ABB Lumus Global - nice place but chuffing cold in the winter months with that sea air (snow on the beach I remember well). Have fun with your Monster and yes all the wobbles will soon go

Hello, enjoy the Monster and well done on passing the test. You live in a very nice part of the world and have some excellent biking roads to play on. I was shown a few of them by this young lady, also a Lisa, and her friends, followed by tea and biccies in London Road Inc.

hello and welcome
this is an active forum with a wealth of helpful, entertaining and knowledgabe folk so feel free to ask questions and check in from time to time to see whats happening. many of the usual suspects are away on various jolies in europe at the moment so the forum is a bit quieter than normal at the mo. hope your loving that bike, just take it easy and build your confidence the 796 is a stonking bike with plenty of power if you want it and fantatsic handling (and brakes!) look out for ride outs round your way and if your minded, extra training is always good. look out for a bikesafe course in your area run by the local police. Some here have done IAM training too and reccomend it highly if you havent already done it, i suggest you fit some R&G crash bungs as they will save lots of cash on engine case repairs if you do accidently drop your bike when manuvering around. most of all ride it and enjoy it ali Last edited by Funkatronic; 25-09-2011 at 02:15 PM.. |

Hey all ...
Thanks for the welcome. Its nice to know that there is a friendly biking community out there. I agree that there are some nice roads round here, i guess i just gotta find 'em Kerry, thanks so much for the invite to join you and your fellow bikers. Don't think i'll be able to make the October gathering but would love to catch up in the spring. Sorry folks, but i'm going to be one of these wussy riders that only goes out on a nice bright day. Maybe with a bit more riding under my belt and a whole lot more experience/confidence i'll head out more often. Thanks for the advice Ali, i will defiantely bear all in mind. I have already covered the bike with crash protection and have already needed them. First day i got her, stalled at roundabout, had minor panic attack and down she went. Crash bungs were brilliant not a mark, but a broken clutch lever. These have now been swapped for some Pazzo race levers and they look awesome !! I'm loving the 'feel' of the bike and i agree it is a 'stonking' great big thing. Get me on an open road and i'm in my element, its just the slow speed/traffic crawling times that i feel myself getting all hot under the collar. Can't get my feet fully down, so can feel like i'm on tip toe at times. Thats when i tend to feel a bit wobbly. Have been told to stop worrying so much as i'm doing fine, but you know how it is. I know it will all come with time spent on the road, and boy am i looking forward to it !! Once again, thanks folks for settling me in |

Hi Lisa, from sunny South Norfolk here. You don't have to ride to the monthly meets, you can get there however you choose. If you're on FaceBook then do a search for East Anglian Ducati Club and you should find us.
Welcome to the club, you're more than welcome to join us in anything we do, doesn't matter how wobbly you are.

Hey ...
I have asked the guys at Seastar if my monster could be lowered any more but they are reluctant to do anything else to her. I believe the suspension has been wound down as far as they would like to take it. I was assured that going any lower would compromise the handling etc and to just stick with it until my confidence kicked in. I already have the lowered seat so don't really know what else i could do. Any little tips on overcoming that tip toe feeling would be greatly appreciated |
