Continuing speedo problems S4
When I put my refurbished S4 back on the road in Thailand in Novemebr 2023 I found that the speedo was not working ,
So first i replaced speedo cable but that was not the problem ,, I have a spare speedo that I know is good and that made no difference ,, so it has to be the speedo drive on the axle a 25mm one . Not available in Thailand I ordered a new 25mm axle speedo drive in UK from a certain Ducati dealer , along witrh another spare cable for S4.... i also tested the Thai bikes speedo on my UK M750 for 10 miles and it worked flawlessly . Now back in Thailand I have fitted the new 25mm speedo drive ,, but the new cable supplied is too short by 100mm ??? even though its in a Ducati packet marked S4 its clearly for a M750 ,600 or 900 ?????????? but I have a spare good older speedo cable of correct length with same fittings , thread and inner cable length so not a big issues but the new Speedo drive is not working ? It looks ok on the bench , the tabs seem ok and its assembled to wheel correctly but its not working ???? when wheel spins ????? I will see if i can find the crapped out old one , ??? any ideas ??? should i post photos

Remember telling me that Yamaha speedo cables fit a Monster?
Well I took your advice and after failing to find a pattern one of any usable quality, I went to the local Yamaha dealer and the very helpful man, whom I had known for many decades, went into the stores with a tape measure and came out with the perfect cable. For reference it is Yamaha part no. 3GM-8355-02 I've no idea what model it's for but it fits my M900 a treat. I wanted a longer than standard one to go round the 4-pad callipers I fitted and this one is about 100mm longer than the previous standard one, so it might do the trick for you? Yamaha up to OE Ducati standards. I'll try and measure it if you're interested. No idea why an S4 would be any different length than others though?

OK I have found the speedo problem ,, its the relay drive ring in the hub , keeps falling out ,, and thats why the speedo drive is not working ,, how does it stay in ??? grease does not hold it, nor friction ,, its not damaged ??? maybe some loctite or epoxy ????
