Hello New member. 620ie help needed please.
Hello new to the forum. My name is Christine.
I have had my Monster since June 04 but only ridden it for a few months since passing my test. New to bikes. Done 350 miles only. The problem is that it will only pull to 70 mph, it's as if it's going uphill all the time. After a 20 min run the inside of the exhausts are hot ie red. The fuel pump also make a whinning noise all the time. It was bought new and the pump has always made that noise. The problem is that due to only just passing my test the bike has not run much, only started in the garage, and not been serviced. Wasn't told that it had to be serviced after 1 year so didn't take it in although it had done no miles !!! Could it be not enough fuel / air ? Also sometimes the ignition doesn't come on when the key is turned to on. Thank you for any help. |

Ignition...
...Does your bike have the standard Ducati immobiliser fitted?
If you put the key in and leave it for too long before turning the key to the on position, the immobiliser cuts back in but doesn't flash the light on the clocks. You just need to remove the key and put it back in again, then turn it straight to the on position. Hope this helps. Phil P.S. Welcome to the club. |

Is it restricted to 33bhp? This is done to make it legal for someone who has passed their test on a 125cc bike.

Don't think so.
How would I tell ? It certainly feels like it. |

If the pipes are getting so hot they're glowing red, the fueling may be way to lean - this could be very damaging!!
I would suggest you take it to a mechanic or dealer who can check the setup properly. Wouldn't do many more miles with it running like this if I were you! Ped

It was red after a 5 mile run on the M-way, not after a slow ride around.
I will have to take it to the dealers, they think that Ducati won't honour any warranty as I didn't get it serviced after 1 year even though it hadn't turned a wheel . I will have to see if they will honour it ?? |

Ducati should honour the warranty. Even though you have not stuck to the service schedule exactly, the vehicle still has to be fit for the purpose for which it was sold, for a reasonable amount of time. Its probably nothing too serious anyway. I would get the dealer to check it out.

It is an official Ducati dealer who were very helpful.
It was just an oversight or my not understanding what i should have done regarding the servicing. It's obviously my first bike. Don't want to have to sell it and buy Japenese but it has no power and not safe to overtake anything. Also can't touch the floor on any other 600 !!!!!! How are they restricted ??? |

Not being rude but...
...How old are you? I ask cos if you do your direct access under the age of 21 then you can only ride a restricted bike for 2 years after passing your test. Not sure what the rules are about having them de-restricted but I hope I've not offended you if you're a different age.
