Throttle cable

Hi,
i am fitting a set of Fat bar Contour handle bars (CR High in Gold), dont panic the anoraks out there it is reversible and all the original parts will be kept for a future owner to take her back to OEM if required.

i have sourced extra long clutch and brake hoses (Hel) and the 2 handle bar switch cables are being extended.

The throttle cable is the only component left to extend, do any of the forum members know of a throttle cable from another model that is longer than the S4rs

Try Venhill. They make custom cables as well as youf lengths and also grey.

Yep Venhill are great, order online and they arrive in a couple of days. (Ordering online has a faster turnaround time than ordering over the phone)

The gold fatbars are fitted and functioning correctly, just waiting for 2 x M10 x 1mm stainless steel banjo bolts, with the bleed nipples.

get the brakes bled then headlight & fairing and ready to go.

They're wide aren't they? Look good though, I can see why you needed to extend the wires and stuff, they're not obviously that much higher but look much wider. Colour is a good match with the gold forks too.

Is that still the original throttle cable or have you sorted a longer one already?

The 2 handle bar switch cables were extended and a new set of longer brake and clutch braided hoses (Hel).

The throttle cable is OEM the only component not changed, the OEM hoses bars will stay with the bike.

I got away with the standard cable, I'm glad about that, as it looks like a tank and air box removal job to me.

Darren slightly wider than the Mugura OEM bars, but a better position slightly swept further back and slightly higher, I am short & fat so the different dimensions make for a more comfortable ride

Potentially, yes if it were a dealer job, however I think you can get away with taping one end to the other and pulling it through the route of the original one, if you are careful. They are a tight fit though but so long as you have enough slack for lock to lock without pulling it, then it probably is ok.

Whatever works best for you ergonomically, is the best solution. Personally I find the steering on those Monsters to be quite sensitive and the front can get quite light under power so I prefer them narrower and lower to keep the weight over the front So something like ACE bars or Raask Jota bars would work well for me especially with rear sets if I had an S4R style top clamp. The S4 doesn't offer many options, but clip ons with a decent riser work quite well.

The wide bars wouldn't be practical for me anyway as I have a narrow passageway to navigate and I had a nightmare when I borrowed my mates 955i Tiger for a few weeks to get through such a narrow gap with the wide bars, not helped by the sky high seat and tippy toes.

The lads who carried out the electrical switch works very tidy works, their unit seem to be full of classic rally cars when i visited, plus a mint Mk1 Escort looked like a Mexico

The brake reservoir looks a little low to me, compared to the clutch one. I thought it should be higher than that as it relies on gravity.
