Dealer Service Cost?

My 2006 S2r is due for its 1st Annual Service and wanted to know how much the dealer is likely to charge me. It only done 1600 miles so will it need everything done or could i do an interim service. ( or should it be full in case of warranty issues later on)

Im going to use P&H in Crawley, are they any good? Or are they all much of a muchness?

The mileage won't make any difference to the cost. They will do a standard 1 year service, you will need this to keep the warranty valid. I had mine done this time last year at Riders of Bristol, cost me £385.60 including VAT.
Get the first one out of the way to keep the warranty up, and then my recomendation is take it to a Ducati specailist such as Louigi Moto after that. Just had my 2 year service done by Louigi for a lot less than Riders charged for the 1st one.

I would get a quote first as the independants don't tend to be any much less then the dealers, they just tend to do more for the money.

Some places do options based on the mileage. Motorapido are showing £299.26 on their website. I got my other bike done at Snells.

Blimey not cheap. My 4x4 on its first service only cost 200 quid.

It looks like bread & pullit for the rest of the month!

I hope i get a courtsey bike offered!?!?!

I paid £118 for first anual service one year after the first service was done, dealer stamped the book as required (First 600 mile service was £180)

Wrong: you can also use an authorised ducati agent, or a qualified mechanic who uses genuine parts & is able to stamp your book to show the work has been done.
The law changed to stop monopoly from dealerships.

It is 'easier' if things do go wrong, to go through a main dealership, but it is not mandatory to use them


alsduc: Best advice is to phone a couple more dealers for price comparison - Like W.M. Snells & possibly Pro-Twins too.
Mike Dawson (independant) undertakes a lot of work round the SE, providing a good quality of care & is an ex-Ducati main dealer mechanic.

i got my 6000 mile/ 1 year service done by Carl Harrisons for £262 including having the belts changed (long story, and i cant be assed to go into it! lol)

P&H have quoted me £280 + vat for the 1st service. I asked for discount and they said no but due to low mileage would take off £50 if i didnt have the valves checked.

Do i take the risk?

Mmm

No! - go somewhere else were they will do it for £250 including the valves checked.

Trouble is dealers are scarce in sussex and i dont really want to use an indep just because of warranty hassle issues.

I must say P&H have always been heplful whenever ive used them just not the cheapest. You cant have it all.
