Hi All

I've been riding Louise's 620 recently and am finding it very cramped as it was originally set up for a short lady rider.

The rear ride height has been returned to stock and I think that the forks have been set as they should in the yokes. The seat however feels much lower than the one for my 900 and is contributing to my legs aching.

Does anyone know if the seats from other ie Monsters can be fitted, and if they are any taller? Louise is not a tall as me but is much taller than the first owner so will also have similar issues.

Yes, the 620 seat was lower than all the rest. Shopping for another? Remember that the shape is different between bikes ("888" vs "ST") where the seat meets the tank.

All post 2002 Monster seats are interchangeable with other post 2002 Monster seats, so they all have the same catch and fit to the tank.
You might be lucky and find that a post 2000 seat fits, but I have found there is a bit of variation 2000-2002.

620ie was fitted with a lower seat originally, but an S4 one will be higher.
The higher was also fitted to other models, but I'm not sure exactly which ones off the top of my head. M1000 is a high one though.

You can tell visually as the high seat comes back straight and flat from the back of the tank , the lower version dips down away from the tank.

I happen to know that a Norfolk member has recently had a seat raised and recovered very professionally by Clive the Seat, so I know it will be a nice job.
From what I can make out the seat is a "later" one, so from 2000 onwards.
He found out that it's wrong for his bike, which is 1993, so he might possibly part with it, or maybe swap for an early "small radius" seat with hoop type catch?

This 620 is a 2005 model if that makes any difference? Assume not but I'll keep an eye out view ebay etc ��

I'm off to France on it next month so cash bit tight until after that but sounds like it has potential.

If you go for something like a Corbin be aware it will be much lower than standard S4 or maybe 620 too idk but they are much lower.

I've been trying to measure the height of both the 620 and my 900 (half built) and it's hard to get a good comparison between the two. I'm only 5-11 but the 620 feels tiny whereas I don't remember the 900 ever feeling this small.

The Sargent I have on my S4R feels a tad taller than the standard iirc. I would jack the rear up more over standard and fit some adjustable pegs or maybe adj rearsets with an S4 seat that will give you about as much leg room as is possible.

Likewise the Sargent on my 900.

I've had 3 seats for mine, a 620, a DP 'comfort' seat and the Sargent.

All fitted fine, I never actually used the 620 as the DP seat came my way before the bike was on the road and it was nicer but I found it a bit on the low side - I think the 'comfort' claim was that it was lower?

I like the Sargent because it's taller and, along with an adjustable suspension rocker (on it's max height) it gives me a good ride height.

Don't think that would win me any friends as Louise hasn't ridden for 12 years and is only 5ft6in 😉

I'll try researching the stock part numbers from the year's for the seats on bigger bikes and see if they are different or not indicating a height difference.

Cheers - I'll see how bad it is in France next month and then potentially spend some pennies. Strangely it's much more pronounced when you have a pillion which I won't do across the channel.

It should do, I got one from a 620 on my S4R

Well it says it's for or from a 2002 S4, so that's a good sign.
looks like large radius at the front and a spike type catch.
But.. There are no Ducati marks underneath, so it aint OEM as they claim.
The spike catch is not adjustable, nor detachable, so you will have to do all the adjustment on the tank hinge if it doesn't mate with the tank nicely first time.
There are two curious looking lumps with holes in either side of the catch. I've never seen those before and are not part of the standard Ducati seat base. You'll have to look under your current seat and see if you think there is room for them without fouling something. You could always cut them off I suppose, I've no idea what they do.

It probably will fit, but It doesn't look any higher than standard to me. Try comparing it to your 620 seat, noting the angle and shape as it comes away from the tank.

Not filled you with confidence have I? Worth a punt at that price though, you might even get it for fifty quid?

Thanks guys! I spotted the two things near the lock spike and wondered what they were for. I've also been goggling that code which appears to be a Ducati code even though it's made by SDV
