New Ducati Monster 600 Dark owner
Hello all
New Ducati owner here WooHoo Got a Monster 600 dark that's in need of some TLC. Got it striped down right now to redo the fuel system as one of the last owners seemed to think it was a good idea to remove the fuel pump and all the air hoses and just have the fuel tank got straight to the carbs Getting some loss of power when riding and it just stops so think its a bit of a fuel starvation issue, fingers crossed its that the floats are set wrong in the carb, got a jet kit on the way so will check when I'm fitting that :P But overall still love the bike, it like a piece of art |

only been a Duc owner and forum member a few months, but both this group and the Monster are great !!!!!!!!!! Something about a Ducati that no Jap bike can match. Good luck and best wishes...Tosh |

Check the fuel hoses are routed correctly they can get a kink when lowering the tank back down

Also check that the tank breather is OK, there's a tiny hole through the cap that can get blocked. Usually it'll run for a while then start to miss then stop.
Otherwise the motors are surprisingly tough, the electrics are OK too.. just clean and seal all the connectors. Should be a fun toy for when the weather improves, does your riding skills no harm as you do have to ride monsters to get the best put of them. Get some pics up when you can.

I got a 600 Dark too. Milage now 28k(bought it at 20k), almost no problems once I sorted the carb issue it had when I bought it. Get yours running sweet then just enjoy it! One of the few bikes that don't seem to depreciate in price.

I have a carbed M600 and I am not impressed with the vacuum fuel pump. IMHO you do need a fuel pump, not just gravity, but I am considering fitting an external electric pump. It takes ages to prime the carb with the vacuum pump and that is why the M600 is hard to start after standing for a while. There are threads on this on this site about suitable electric pumps. I also had the breather pipes to the tank blocked and blew them out with an air line from the top fuel cap opening. Be sure to catch the crap in a rag! It is best to take the tank off the bike and make sure all breather pipes and fuel return lines are not blocked. If your filler cap is like mine there is a complicated valve system to allow air into the tank inside the filler cap. Worth checking to see that this is working properly.

It's something I'd consider when someone says 'you need this, this, and this'. Until then I'll keep the reminder in my phone to start them up and let them idle for 5 minutes every 2 weeks
