M750 sprocket carrier not sitting flush against wheel

Afternoon all,

I've just fitted new rear wheel bearings on my 2000 750. Sprocket carrier back and there's a gap, possibly 1mm between wheel face and sprocket carrier. It won't press on any further because the spacer is contacting the bearing inner face, which is pressed fully home.

Any suggestions?

You would expect a gap as the cush drive will flex, looks normal.

Yep, looks normal to me too, you need some clearance.

Lovely, thanks for that! Never something I'd noticed before.

I drafted a response earlier but got distracted before posting.
My old wheels are in the shed .. late model 750, identical wheels to yours, same colour even.
The gap on that rear wheel looks to be at least 1mm, possibly more like 1.5mm even .. though admittedly the hub isn't bolted up tight in a swingarm.
You need a clearance there to allow minute relative rotation between the cush unit and the main hub as the drive is "cushioned".
