Oh, mate .....I'm so pleased for you.
Having discussed various options over recent weeks, I know exactly how absolutely perfect this one is for you.
The grin was instant and very cheesey.
It looks really tidy too.
Whatever you paid, I'm sure you did the right thing.
I'm guessing you might keep this one for quite a while too, so well worth buying what you really want rather than settling for less.
Looking forward to meeting Eleanor soon.

Oh and yes, they're unnecessary extra weight.

Just see how you get on with the stand smiffy...I'm sure you will be converted once you find out how useful it is.

It's so wrong of me to go begging bits off your new bike...Thou should not covet thy neigbour's centre stand...ect....But I would hate to think of it sitting on your shelf..

Rip it off asap and send it to Gazza. I think his drooling is starting to seep through my screen!

i will have a play like you say, its gotta be handy for adjusting chain etc. as i havent actually taken delivery of the bike yet just a quick one, what is the deal with the rear shock on the later 's'? as it appears its not an adjustable ohlins like the earlier ones.

right just done 400 miles on it in the last two days and love it. the 1000DS is incredible. one small thing. how do you raise the ride height on these later ones? i had custom extended eye ends on the hoop on my 750 but these newer 'uns dont have that and needs to go up as am finding it quite cramped compared to the 750

You need to extend the rod ends in tie bar next to the back shock. There are 2 locking nuts. You'll need to unload the back end off the ground. Its probably seized as mine was and I ended up fitting a longer tie bar from a SBK.

It will be handy for more than chain adjustment. If ever you are unfortunate enough to have tyre problems away from home and you have to resort to roadside assistance.
Great looking monster you have there, love the colours and that DS motor is a peach. I had one in the early Multistrada that I owned once , when I sold it the only thing that I missed was that engine, the rest of the bike was a joke. ENJOY

When I replaced the shock I fitted an aftermarket one and it has flats for a spanner in the centre rather than at each end, so it makes it a bit easier to get a spanner in and adjust. Still not the easiest of jobs though.

So much said, so few words.

...unless you count 1000, for the picture, as they say.

Had me chuckling out loud ....at intervals.

Is that a wheelie bin next to the conservatory: it's not quite clear on my 'phone screen?

Nice bike though Smiffy. You must be well chuffed.
