No, no liner under the tank.

I was just surprised at the sound difference between my 900 and the S4RS.

Now I understand it’s part of a kit, so all or nothing, that’s fine. I guess I just wanted more exhaust, less induction!

The noise difference is due to your s4 sucking a lot more air than your old 900

People on the street won't be hearing the the induction roar so at least you can smile knowing they are getting the full termi effect

I'm surprised it's much louder, I have a 916 with a 4v engine and whilst it's certainly noisy, it's not as loud as my M900 which has that well documented noisy setup; big-bore, high-comp, large split-single carbs and no airbox, either from the intake or the exhaust.

My 900 is sie, so no carbs. It’s all exhaust noise. The S4R is a whole other level of performance and induction noise.

I might pick up a tank liner, see if that makes a difference.
