One bike with (just) wheels, chain, forks & engine in & rear seat pod attached - needs loom (being made as I type) then the rest going on - plastics, air box, tank, clocks, rearsets..
Other on front paddock stand - awaiting yoke (tomorrow), got rear wheel, 80% engine & swing arm in. Needs same as other bike, but also loom forks, bars, front wheel etc etc

3 nights left for him to complete both bikes after work - load up on Thurs nite.....

Project Rebuild

Well I picked up the parts required to rebuild my bike. OOOOhhhhhhhhhh lurvely painted parts . I have taken some pics and tarted assembling last nite and got called in at 11.00. I reassembled all the footrest hangers and gear and brake hangers and they certainly are an improvement on standard. This morning as I type I wa out at 7.30 and reassembled front wheel with bearings/speedo and front discs. I very happy with the colour.Rear hub is back in singleside swingarm and boy what a pain that huge circlip i to get back on. Thought it it was bad enough getting it off.
Headtock bearing are in now as well and brake clutch levers back on their mounts as they were blacked. The original clearcoat was yellowing and powdering underneath in places and looked pants.

I have just got to go and get some threadlock and a tapping set so I can crack on and get the engine in frame next. I also have to pop rivet the inside frame clips that will hold the wiring loom witout the rubber bands.

Keep you all posted and am taking assembly pics as I go.

Caroline's view!

Just to say I think all his time in the garage is not going to waste. He is doing a brilliant job. She's looking really good so far we made a good choice on the final colour it looks brill and I can't wait to get on the back when she's complete. Plus I can watch the TV in peace

Well I cant resist

Well I'm so pleased so far I have thought I would share some of my pleaure with you all. What you see may not be the finished result in your minds as I have some other plans for the future if I'm not happy. The exhaust is only dry fitted and I'm not sure if I need to add an 1" to the rear cylinder exhaust. I cant tell until I fit the gaskets. I needed carolines help to fit the headlamps as they are so tight and still haven't found out where the ignition relay/box goes. I may just have to cable tie it to the framework of headlamp cradle.

So today I did
Dry fit exhausts
Handlebars on
Brake and clutch levers on
Switchgear on
Headlamps fitted
Front Brakes tempory fitted to avoid taking apart
Speedo fitted
Horns fitted
Rear wheel dry fitted
Engine mounts torqued up to 45nm

Well here goes hope you all like it.

The answer is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOI just put the front fairing on and looked Hmmm then the tank NOOOO and its a contrast and in a way I'm kind of glad as I always wanted a respray as it always had a little dink near the seat that always bothered me. It also got a 2" scratch on the side going into the white undercoat when me moved last year with the boxes in the garage.
So its a paint job for sure. It has to be right so if you can recommend anyone I would be grateful. I need tank , 2 little front fairing panels and seat cowl. I want metallic or pearlescent with a stripe maybe. Bit of a budget but what needs must.

So today I refitted air filter box to check whether wiring loom ok.
Connected throttle and choke cables
Fitted rear undertray
Fitted rectifier and oil chamber
Fitted Tea tray
Removed brake / footest hanger as got to refit brake light switch but need a nut.
I had guests this afternoon who wanted to see her in the flesh( the bike that is ). Scrapps and new bird Sue came around for coffee and a view and Gully turned up very wet from Southend trip.
Both were very impressed.

So its just pick a colour time for me tonite.
