I was going to offer the loan of my Crochet hooks, but maybe Macramé would be a better option.? Seriously mate, starting from scratch is not so silly an idea. I did a T140V from scratch once, as the original had been so "macramied" and I wanted some custom features anyway. I laid the original out on a big board, using nails either side of the loom to peg it in place and draw round important bits. It's fairly straightforward to lay new cables into the "nail bed" following all the original branches and lengths, incorporating mods along the way using the original as reference ... Bit more length here, bit of slack there, as required. I used new connectors where possible (not very complicated on an old Triumph) saving anything specialist to restore/re-use. I think most of the original fitment connectors can be sourced, just a matter of knowing what they are called.. Plenty of knowledge on here. If you post a picture up, someone will be along pretty soon with the correct name and probably a source too... Oh and I used S/S braiding on chafe prone areas about 30 years ago. I'd seen it used as RF shielding on boat looms with Radars ect. So I employed a few "offcuts"..

Been off sick but back now....
This project has not moved since last November, when i got quite sick.
Am currently regaining my fitness after an operation and have just this week been able to get out to the shed. The project has not moved on at all since my last post but I wonder if you can spot my new delivery hanging around the garage. Back on track with spaghetti unravelling (wiring) soon. |

If you don't know already, I can tell you that a heat gun or hairdryer is your friend for softening the wires, either for straightening out the old ones or for coaxing the new loom into its required tortuous shape.
I've just done a serious loom mod on my Dommie and the heat gun was indispensable. Glad to hear you're feeling better and back out in the shed. |

Thanks for all the good wishes - currently got the Big C on the run. Not only ****ed up by that, but Photobucket seems to have taken against us!! Any tips on how to get pics here from Flicker (Flickr?) Have paid my new best mate Dave (link to follow) to sort out the wiring on the bike (I love you Dave) and things are back on track. (Pics of sweet wiring to follow) Also selling the Gold Wing I bought (she wouldn't come out on the RC8) and planning on buying a ST4S - a 2 Ducati household (I'd have creamed myself with that idea 25 years ago!!) Happy New Year to all
After a couple of false starts due to post-op complications, I am finally back in the shed. This is where I left off last time, approaching despair with Italian spaghetti!! I finally found someone to do a sort out job for me in Aberdare, about 40 miles from home. So I borrowed a mates trailer (ta Neil) and took the bike to Celtic Motorcycles in Aberdare, where Dave the electrician worked his magic so that when I picked it up it looked like this Thanks Dave and the boys at Celtic - celticmotorcycles.com So all that's left for me to do now is put it back together - should be MOTd and on the road by spring (2018!!) Brain Fade at 60
Just had my 60th birthday - symptoms not good - serious memory issues encountered!
On the last leg of re-assembly (after 5 years!!) so you better get ready for this question again and again and again!! I'm hopefully done with the electrics and am now replacing the tank and fuel lines, but my memory fails me and the Haynes manual is no help!! Where on the frame does the fuel cock mount (shown boxed in the pic) Before I powder coated the frame I removed what I thought were superfluous lugs/brackets. I don't think I removed the mounting for this but.......... If anyones got a pic of where this is located on the frame I would be very grateful. Thanks folks |

Worry not .. if its the same as my yr2000 750, it fits to (or near) the same bracket that holds the tank hinge.
I don't have a pic and I'm only speaking from memory but I can nip and have a look on the bike if you need more detail. |
