Too cold and damp today so cleaned my exhaust the best I could with out removing the whole system . I used Harpic 10X for a £1 from morrisons and some 85p cleaning pads . It took two goes to get rid of most of the brown staining but they have come up better than new . Not sure how long the finish will last, but not that bothered really .

Cracking job Colin. I did exactly the same as you, although the first time I polished them I used a 'proper' stainless cleaner, Solvol Bluing Remover, subsequently I've used Harpic, which is pretty much chemically identical and achieves the same result but at a fraction of the cost.
http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=56466 I find the pipes start to bronze slightly after about 500 miles but, once you've polished them up the first time, it's easy to remove the discolouration with just a wipe over with a bit of Harpic on a sponge followed by clean water. |
