You can achieve 100bhp but I reckon the value is little. Kato must be on that with his bike I reckon. Bear in mind my 1100s was only 95 and EVO is 100 because of different casting mods on the casings I would be happy with 90hp out of it.

My 1000 was just on 100hp, not cheap... Took about a grand to get there, full exhaust, pc111, air filter and full custom fuel map. No mechanical mods though. I'd be surprised if a 900 would get this number with some serious head work and other things

The heads/valves are the limiting factor they will only flow so much gas, but close to 85-90 should be achievable. I would think around a 5-10% increase with a full exhaust and fueling mods. Its torque you really want to increase, thats more usuable power than outright max hp

Okay, maybe a three figure HP number was a bit of a long shot....

90hp sounds plenty for the road, and to be honest, I only bought the power commander to smooth her out as much as I can

If you fit 4 valve heads then 3 figures are quite easy! That's what Ducati did, its pretty much the same engine otherwise

Would that work? I'm assuming it's not a simple bolt on procedure

One good thing about Ducati engines is that they often share the same platform so there is a lot of mixing n' matching that can be done, which is basically how Ducati came up with the Monster in the first place.

The bottom end of the 900 is basically the same as a 916 etc., so if you fit the barrels & heads etc. from a 4-valve, you'd end up with; a Monster S4 but it would be easier/cheaper to buy an S4 or at least the engine.

My 900 has a 2mm overbore to 944cc and along with a few other non too radical mods makes 91hp with a very healthy spread of torque. I do know of a 944cc (air cooled) that put out 110hp but the builder/owner put a lot of effort into that.

The 3-valve engine from the ST3 is a good compromise and despite being water cooled can 'almost' be made to look as if it's not...

That's my issue, I want air cooled. I bought the 900 for two reasons, dry clutch and air cooled, so I don't want to lose that.....

I'll fit the power commander and see where that gets me..... A new set of bigger headers should be next on my list!

Yea, you want big headers with a spaghetti/tangential manifold (and high level link pipes for max torque) and music!

Well, I've just been out on my first ride After fitting the power commander, and mapping it correctly.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE! she's smoother, revs more freely and has noticeably more power and torque..... Best 100quid I've spent so far.

Now to fire it back on the dyno

Yea, I wouldn't be without mine. Did you use one of the standard maps and/or adjust using the buttons? If you did then there will be even more improvements to be had from the dyno.

I used a map from power commander that pretty closely matches what I've got fitted..... I've got access to a dyno, so I'll throw it on there any have a play about
