There were very few non-hoop type conventional (twin arm) aluminium swingarm models, just the M1000ie S, and I believe an ST4 variant, so I'm struggling to find a long enough spindle.
My Aluminium arm is a M1000ie S one which I brought from EBAY US for a surprisingly small outlay.

I thought perhaps a std ST one might be just that bit longer, so I fired off a load of questions asking EBAY vendors to measure the spindles they had for sale, but almost none of them bothered to reply, including none that were selling an ST one, and those that did reply were mostly shorter than what I need.

Can anyone stick a tape measure through their ST 2, 3 or 4 rear wheel spindle and let me know the length please, or perhaps suggest something else?

Thanks

Nasher.
Would an S4 one be the right length? They have ally swing arms.

According to Stein Dinse the M1000Sie axle (81910391A) is common with these models

If that helps.

Yea, I thought the ST's all had steel arms except the ST4S, so that confirms it. S4 '01 to '03 are all the same. I don't know if the 695 had one but I seem to recall it may have .

Thanks Luddite, I've been looking and can't find one from any of those models, but will get back on it later

I ended up getting a bespoke Titanium spindle for mine from Ti pete as, for some reason all the spindles I found were too short for the ally M900 swingarm.

I put billet wheel adjusters and Ti nuts on my standard 17mm rear spindle and now it appears to be too short due to the thickness of the adjusters and the deeper Ti nuts.

Is your axle 17mm, is it hollow? and what's the ball park for a Ti axle? I'm thinking of going that way.

I've been looking for a spindle for over a week now, and finally posted today asking for help.

And by chance this evening, this was posted on EBAY from an S4:

A tad expensive, but does have everything else included that I need.

I was going to have to skim a couple of mm from the sliders in the steel arm to fit the Ali arm, and re-bend the adjuster plates to fit.

But now I have it all on the way, hopefully before the weekend.

Nasher.

Yes, mine is 17mm with a 9mm hole bored through it and I had it made longer to allow for billet adjusters. I did have the weight recorded somewhere but can't find it at the moment, I do recall it being around half that of a solid steel spindle though.

Honestly can't remember what it cost me as it was some years ago now. Wouldn't be cheap but probably no more than a new (steel) Ducati part?

I've seen titanium axles for around £150-200 and I've also seen T5 aluminium ones for around £100 but I'm not sure would they be strong enough, without bending?

I thought so.

I decided to have another quick look to see what new wheel spindles had been listed on EBAY and the one pictured had been added @ a minute before.
If I'd not stopped to pet the dog I wouldn't have seen it.

I wouldn't want to trust an Aluminium one.

And even £100 is @ what I paid for the swingarm, the spindle and it's associated parts from last night, plus a new old stock nylon chain slider.

I'm guessing the alloy ones are solid bar with holes for the fork compression adjustment not hollow?
