here is the first coat of lacquer… For 40 years I used my trusty Binks Bullows 230 but it was starting to give problems… I tried several guns off Ebay, but despite the Binks problems always went back to it… then a few years ago I bought a cheap (£20) gun off amazon… it had great reviews, and sure enough its brilliant! this is the gloss straight from the gun!

I did prefer the orange over the red. A non-standard bike deserves a non-standard colour. Too many red Ducati anyway!

I think you've made the right choice with the orange - that'll really pop and works well against the silver frame. Will you be adding any logos? If so, what font have you chosen? Classic sixties, seventies parallel lines or eighties Cagiva style?
There's a similar look on this custom mark 1 Multistrada, which seems to have the same tank as yours but I much prefer your frame/bodywork colour combo. https://www.bikeexif.com/ducati-multistrada-cafe-racer |

It looks like someone has had a lump of EFP30 foam in a CNC 3D router... Now there's a thought?

That's probably the best thing you can do with a Multi strada, and that's one of the nicest I've seen. Don't get me wrong they are good bikes, especially if you can get an S version. Just bloody butt ugly!

And the final coat.... my heart is always in my mouth when painting over decals... I have found by experience you MUST wipe them over with panel wipe, and make sure the first coat of lacquer is a mist coat which then has to tack off... then a couple of coats on top. if you go with a full coat first you always get runs off the lip on each letter! I will let them dry fully in the drying oven... OK, the small bathroom as that is the hottest room in the house!

I'm sure Luddite's comment isn't alluding to Orange peel in any way, as non whatsoever is evident..
It just gets better! At this rate you will have her ready and MOTd in plenty of time for the Weekender.. Can't wait to see and hear her.. (Yes she's a "her" now alright.) http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=57860
