I've just received a letter from TFL (.PDF via email) confirming the bike meets the required standard and they will update their register accordingly. I'll keep checking daily to see when the exemption shows on the system. I have another bike to submit, so will finish documenting the process with that and create a new (sticky) post.

It would be nice to see these regs make a real difference to the air quality in London. When this country boy has visited the metropolis on a few occasions, I can taste the pollution and always need a good wash when I get home!
Are they still using the old diesel busses and taxis in the ULEZ? I know Dirty drives an electric taxi at least. Glad I didn't buy that Alfa V6, as these standards will be applied nationwide before very long.

Congrats @slob! How long did it take Ducati to reply? It's been a week for me now, don't expect the reply in the next month or so
@MrGazza, I believe most of the busses in London are some version of hybrid and they are planning to make them all electric (one day), but yes, agree with you that on the whole the ULEZ initiative is not a bad thing. How long until we see it Nationwide? Maybe after COP26 the process will be sped up? Obviously hope that our bikes will always meet the standards, which is unfortunately a bit unrealistic... |

There are still load of diesel taxis around. Euro 6 can be run for 15 years and the last ones were sold in 2018 I think, so will be on the road until 2033, Euro 5's had their limit reduced so should all be gone by the end of this decade I think. ULEZ is just a cash cow. I doubt it will change air quality very much. Since announced I've had an eye out for vehicles that wouldn't pass and they are in a very small minority. So given that the primary function of any legislative authority is to relieve the population of every coin it possesses, this shows they are doing the job right ?????

Just an update on my case. Ducati Bologna have sent the declaration to me roughly 2 weeks after Ducati UK have confirmed everything with me. I have then uploaded the scan of that document as per @slob's instructions on TFL website on Wednesday the 17th and got an email from TFL today at noon saying they have received the document yesterday and will update the system accordingly. At 1 pm I logged in to TFL and the system is already updated, so all good for me!
Cancelled the Riverside Test center visit of course. Cheers |
