I have 39 FCR'S, on my 600. Chalk and cheese the difference was tremendous. bought them from Chris at California cycle works. Even after import duty it was cheaper than buying them in GB.
Save up if you cant afford them straight away, there worth it.

Yes I'm chasing up some through a friend in the trade

Chris no longer sells FCR's they are sold by Power Barn through Sudco - they will trade with UK but cannot include taxes

Yes, I was taking to jim at Two Wheel Classics, He goes the FCR route from Sudco. When I did buy them from Chris They sorted there side out in USA, Then when they got over here I'd more to pay but it was still big savings rather than buying them in the uk. That was for the full kit including adaptors, carbs, cables,grip and air filter.

Yes that's what I'm expecting.

Just holding onto the slim chance that my pal can hook me up with some at trade +%? but think these are rare / very popular so there's no wriggle room to be found. Even my friend uses Frank MX for stuff so that's a dependable option for Mikuni but my gut tells me Keihin's the way forward.

Love the thought of dropping £1600 into two carbs though

Keihin or Japanese carbs in general have always been expensive. I remember working on honda accords and triumph acclaims. The Honda carbs were £1500, 15 year ago. The bolt on difference of these carbs is well worth it. you'll build the bike as you want it. It's only 150 single Chinese or Indian curries.....

Could the Mikuni TM 40mm flat slide be adapted? Those appear to be about 180 quid each. I think they might be for Harleys or other Jap big singles.

Just waiting on my annual appraisal at work after 5 months of being "at risk" I might now be inline for a rise.

Could end up parking the M900 project and buying a Mult......... who knows

Carbs can be adapted. But by the time you have the correct adaptors, jetting, air filters, twist grip, cables, and everything else req to make it work you might as well have bought them....kits go straight on within a couple of hours including brews you will be on the road with a big smile on your face. No brainer to me if your keeping the bike..

I like how youve factored 'brew time' into the equation. We will probably need a more accurate estimate on what that equates to since he is building it in the kitchen!

Where is cheapest supply of Keihan FCR 39 kit for Monster 750??? i will touring in Germany in June ,, could save a bundle on VAT and import etc

also will I have to dump airbox and if so how to fit battery and coils ???if I did it ,, would it make the bike smoother, more responsive ,,etc or could I fit a 800 6 speed motor modified for carbs into 2000 M750 would it fit ??????

When I contacted a company in Germany they wouldn't supply outside of their borders so going in person should be much better.

You could also try Frank MX in the Netherlands as they often have them too

I've got 39mm FCRs on my 900/944 and have up to now kept the airbox. However, I'm now in the process of dumping the airbox and running K&N pod filters.
So, if you want to, you can keep the air box. You might need adapters for the airbox connections, but as the initial installation of the FCRs was by Baines in the late 90s, my memory might not be right.

P.S. I'm assuming the airboxes on the 900ss and M900 are the same.....
