The only reason I would have bid for the bare housing, was if the grey faced tacho didn't match your existing speedo? The white faced clocks are still available apparently, although the seller only has later grey ones for sale. If the miss match bothers you - another option is to swap your speedo for a later grey one? You could track one down on ebay or even at a breakers, as there must be a lot of monsters broken for spares by now.

As for the price - I dont think there's a lot in it at the moment. The housing went for £68 and bidding is still running on the tacho. By the time you add on the shipping for both I'm sure you got a fair deal on the combined unit.

Did it come with plugs on or just bare wire ends?? If wires what were the colours???

Tacho unit comes with two sets of wires (each set is of one black and one yellow). Also came with a white plastic plug and a metal two pronged thingy.

Ta for the photo it goes as follows,

the two pairs of yellow and black are for the two tacho backlights, these need to be connected to the yellow and back wires in the back of the existing instrument lights (probably what the plug might be for with certain bikes). Thats the only tricky bit, the end of the bigger lead with one plug will plug in the hole on the back of the tacho, the other end needs to cable tied down the frame to near one of the ignition control units under the tank, un-plug the lead from the unit and plug into the socket on the new lead, then plug the the other one from the new lead back into the ignition unit and hey presto it should all work,

Will give it a go tomorrow. My speedo stopped working halfway through a ride out this afternoon. Would you know how I can tell if the cable has snapped or the connectors have come loose. On first inspection, the connectors seem OK.

Sorry i'm not sure on speedo's thats mechanical gubbins which is way out of my league. Im sure there will be someone else along that can help on that one, might be worth a new thread.
