Well they do say "He who has the gold makes the rules" but (you knew there would be a but) it's also widely said that "once you go black, you never go back".

I'm going to be looking into hydrodipping and they say that Carbon is black gold, 2 birds one stone!

Looking forward to seeing a hydro-dipped carbon ring.
You won't have any problems shoving the Tricoya Extreme© underwater, it's only a quick under and out anyway, like a baptism. We have had bits of Tricoya in buckets of water weighted down with bricks at work, for weeks on end and it just isn't effected in any way, apart from getting wet of course! My trial with a bare ring hanging outside, is a year old now.. Must post a photo of it.. It's going green now, but is still dimensionally as I made it. I reckon it would outlast a chrome rim in a hanging competition.

Thanks Darren! Just gone square eyed watching youtube vids of Hydro-dipping. The results they get are very impressive.
Looks very easy. Minimum outlay for me to do this seems to be circa £40-50, but not sure how many rings that would do. Initial estimate indicates Carbon hydro-dipped rings would work out about £22, probably no more that £25. I've already laid out near enough £100 on paint alone for the rings, and I'm some way off my break even point, so I'm not going to lay out any more unless there is some genuine interest in look-alikey Carbon ones.

If I could make the rings (I can't?), I'd want to show a few possible finishes as suggestions, but just sell them raw so that the customer can do whatever they want with them. Gold leaf or snakeskin could be interesting?

Any takers for a prize for the most creative/artistic/subtle/bling finish for a headlamp ring?

I've got a black ring .. Just fitted a black LED lamp. I nearly went with a multi-row device but went more conservative in the end.
Hell fire the thing is bright and I can see the road in the dark which was the attraction.

I could dig one in micro-paisley.
But how to get such fine detail ? So I had a word with my mate Rick the printer. |

I ordered 2 black rings which arrived nice and promptly - Going for the LED units too (although, slightly different designs for each bike) Just fitted one to the monster and I can echo NickJ - bloody bright - although that's without taking it out of the garage... hopefully the second LED unit comes this week and i'll fit that to the Guzzi for the weekend and try em both out in the dark.. but happy with it so far

Nice one Andy... Looking forward to a back to back review.
That's the second one to go into a Guzzi.

So....
adaptor ring delivered and fitted: absolutly no drama with the ring as supplied just the massive plug on the Lamp itself preventing the shell closing. Sorted with a new loom without the massive plug :-) It looks a bit squiffy in the picture but that was soon fixed with a little twisting. regards Howie |

Looks the same as yours.
I did like the look of the sensing ones that change the light pattern into corners but seems a bit of overkill really. Next on the tart up front is a repaint start of next month, same as standard but subtle blinging with no stickers, just painted stripes.
