Starting to get there

Everyday I do a little more but small steps due to keep finding small details I don't like so its search and fix. Two front indicators now replaced for new OEM and still waiting for one bracket from USA but managed to re use the electric tails as new ones are longer.
Getting a couple of later bits bought to swap over from my must have replaced at some time parts like the air box lower and buying another speedo complete although with 2000 miles more on I don't know if mine will click over from the 4-5 its showing on the 24/5642 at any point so changing complete if needed. 350tts is kindly helping me out and I help fund his project.
No news on the rear shock as yet but its only been 6 days today. Made another mock up of the remote holder and is better this time but Big Oz will have to fabricate me one as mine will not be durable enough and needs also to be tested in situation.
Swing arm washer /shim not here yet as expected but posted so need that and then check alignment on sprockets soon as so I can lock the bolts up.
Figured out that air box btw and I can now fit it in by removing something you would not hinder fitting by that much but you live and learn.
Fitted second oil line to engine that also has the carb heater tap on it.
Got my second set of Agip decals for the oil change details on the clutch case after I mislaid the other pair.
Tank etc still at painters should be back soon all finished and correct and looking good.
Oh andc received my missing clutch reservoir.. Lets hope its not seized and will work ok as that will be a disaster.

Well today I had the luck of my life. Popped in to see Richard and pay for my parts he is graciously helping me make mine better with and I always say if you don't ask you don't get and you will never know the answer if you don't ask.
Well i was chatting about Termis and the fact I had a left hand original missing to that a response of checking the loft. I was in my mind ready for disappointment but with all the luck there it was. A left hand unchamfered exhaust a few grazes but in good order and good old Richard offered me it for a small payment towards funding his project.
Thank you mate for making the cherry on the cake real and that also saves me and Big Oz having to fabricate one and me getting water jet cut a shape to pull through and cutting a piece from another to graft on the silencer.

So after being a happy bunny at work getting home with some goodies in need of cleaning and fettling was great.
Also picked up another right hand indicator to fit with the new front bracket so that's rewired and on.

Out in the garden I wiped down carefully the exhaust with wd40 and fine wire wool and got the tape off and a lot of engine road dirt from the front of the aluminium.

I am not going to dress them up and just leaving them as they are with odd scrapes as it matches the other side. I can use my good pair whenever I need for track days but these are the icing on my monster cake.

My next job was attack the speedo I also bought today. It was dirty that's all and just needed careful cleaning and taking apart carefully and a slight repair of one of the rubber mount bolts which had separated from itself so some glue sorted that out. I replaced the black aluminium frame for one that Bluprintz gave me a few weeks ago that had no scratches or chips on it.
The very fact that it has more miles on it is worth swapping as the idiot lights Perspex much brighter and clearer.
I replaced the back nuts and washers for bright ones from mine.

Ok it became very obvious the other day whilst refitting the carbs airbox and breather tubes from the carbs. Now these breather tubes run down behind the carbs and one is so tight to the choke rod and cable it would actually stop choke returning to off it the clip wasn't here keep the tube close to the manifold.. That's all it does and bolts under the battery airbox on the bolt with earths and is captivated by a m6 locknut
nothing to do with battery breather vent or anything else.

Time flys when your doing bits here and there on Monster and the Puppy.
Have been also had time erased helping family folk so basically tinkering waiting for stuff to return to fit finally.
Today I got a very nice condition Sachs rear shock with plating all bright and anodising shiny and spring 90% good as an original replacement if the need be to remove Ohlins for any reason.
Its missing the bump stop ? but maybe can fit something in there secretly but there is a rubber flat washer and the red valve cover is there very clean and colourful.
I stupidly bought a 620 one for not much but too wide to fit swingarm and too short ( I got length wrong way around ) so that's for sale and fairly tidy.
I have fitted Sachs that way I can fit rear wheel again as Ohlins hose not yet arrived at HM racing but I have made the remote bracket ready.
Hoping to have the right bar end weights coming from USA soon and I am no longer searching for much stuff thank goodness. Waiting on my fuel tank still.

Yes just a few. Will be having a big sell off once I know whats what etc.

Got my tank, seat cowl and fairing back today. Fitted most of the hardware but not sure which of the two fuel level sensors to fit. One was fitted on the other tank a black plastic version and one from the M600 tank which is more alloy with no plastic covering the internal part.
I wont be fitting the tank until I know I wont have to lean over the bike for much work but most of it is done now.
I received my French rear shock in pretty outstanding condition for its age and is fitted on a temporary basis for now. It does prove for now that my remote holder bracket shouldn't interfere with anything so far. I fitted the chain yesterday and that has been sitting in an oil bath for 2 years plus. Rear wheel obviously fitted again too and all rotating nicely.

Headlight bowl also got a repaint as got a few marks from storage but all better now and going on tomorrow night hopefully.
Dissappointed with a purchase from USA but my fault looking for rare parts and not asking sizes of bar ends. They were probably later s4 ones with the counter sunk holes not the early version which were much smaller diameter. I have now a pair of pairs one counterbored one countersunk.
If anyone has an early pair they wish to sell any reasonable condition please let me know.

After a week off on holiday and then back to work progress has been slow. This weekend though is seeing a lot of progress and today the Ohlins went back on the bike meaning that she will be on the floor by tomorrow and wheeled around and prepped prior to Proteam Ducati recommisioning her soon.
The Ohlins is now neatly fitted and tbh was tight fitting in and amongst the oil catch tank breather.
Rear hugger and under mudguard refitted. Side pods back on. Exhaust is fitted loosely as awaiting the rear clamp and left hand silencer fitted. Obviously left hanger is on as is gearchange link and sidestand all tightened down.
Fitted tank components drain plug, breather tubes original NOS fuel tap and had to use the newer fuel level sensor as the original one ( the alloy one ) the two wires are bare where looks like get caught but possible repair if I can. Tank and seat fitted.
Fitted the original spec handlebar grips last thing.
Hoping she comes off the bike lift tomorrow and can roll her around and then finish right hand side as I need to fit brake parts hanger and rear caliper and tighten bolt on swingarm before fitting exhaust and throttle grip and oil service decal on clutch case.
Finished making my period original number plate and the decal looks very good and very pleased with the outcome.

Looks better than new mate. you probably couldn't get more original than that? Amazing work, I'm thinking that shock hose may fret the frame paint though! Didn't see a vid originally either, but the link didn't work anyway.
