Now I have working horn. It seems other one was duff but also the push needed some slight adjustment. 4 days off now so need to clear up last bits of checking and tightening bolts nuts banjos and exhausts but waiting on the rear brake bleeder pump.

Time has come
Well the date is set for next week when Monster gets a trip in a van to be commissioned and MoT'd by Ducati Proteam. She goes this coming Monday so this time next week it could be good news or bad.
Everything is working now as far as I can see except a spongy front brake. I managed to sort the rear and just purchased my own vacuum bleed pump so over the weekend will attempt the fronts again. Seat catch mechanism needs minor adjustment as not clicking in so may need a pair of washers under the plate and the oil feed tap doesn't feel positive shut so maybe the spring has lost some compression so will add a washer to that. I also have to remove throttle as the plastic washer is not in there and when the new grips were fitted the throttle doesn't quick return as slight grabbing on throttle case side. The washer stops the grabbing and I missed it out. Other than that its all done and really needs just an expert check oversee before starting her up once the oil is put in and some fuel in the tank. Wish me luck and I hope next comment from me is pictures and video bearing good news.

This is exciting!
I'll wish you good luck but, with your meticulous approach, Albie, I'm sure luck won't be needed. You should set up a live YouTube feed for the first start-up; it could be our version of Elon Musk's rocket launch! |

It may well be filmed if lucky. I will be happy just knowing its alright. Never even ridden the bike. I have only heard it run.

Just sorted the rear wiring. Its now tucked out of sight in the square frame brace hole sandwiched between mudguard and tea tray. Bit of a bugger to do but worth the effort looking neat. Put thin washers between seat catch bracket and frame and seat now clicks into place.
Just that oil tap and brake bleed to do and throttle.

So as it stands its all complete bar some tinkering and touch ups. It came outside to be picked up minutes later by Ducati Proteam Al who was very impressed by it and the Little Puppy Cucciolo. It was pushed into the van and within two hours Al had it running but alas a small fuel leak from carbs. It means more work for him taking them out unless its something more obvious or maybe I didn't do something right. The very fact its running is great and tbh I was looking at new carbs on ebay for months but at a last resort. I expect by tomorrow dinner time it will be known what's what.
Things I had to leave Al to do was spongy front brake, throttle grip not returning fluidly, new plugs and fill with oil. The details I need after are repainting the brake reservoir cover again as fluid has attacked the edge once more. A touch up model brush will sort a few cam cover chips from installing things around them. Big Oz will once I know bikes a goodun prior to the weekender weld the Ohlins remote can neatly so I can remove the bolts holding it together. Much more neater and professional imho but I had to make it hoping it would be in the right place which it was. Once the salt has gone it will come out to play for sure. Sure its a show bike now but its just like having a new bike to ride. I'm lucky enough to have a Scrambler to play on too but I sold my 1100s for a break but never would be without a monster. Anymore news I will be sure to post up and hoping a video too. Sadly this is the end of this project but new ones will arrive soon. I've said it already but it is a credit to you- absolutely beautiful!
Those photos could have been taken in 1993 (although not sure they looked that good new).

Ha ha you guys are so kind.
Latest update is that Al reckons the floats have stuck but has not got any further on as he has some booked in bike services . I am more than happy to wait my turn but he also said again it ran fine and has sorted the sticky throttle grip return and torqued some bits.
