Paint fingers crossed

Well today I feel I achieved something positive with the paint saga if and I say if in case and I always worry the sample original part sent to me by Darkness is the correct colour of the year. I believe it is and I got the part matched locally from an independent paint supplier who can custom mix rattle cans. We studied countless colour charts and was close with a Porsche one but we found a bike colour including ducati and cagiva and aprilia and got one very very close and he did a slight tint. He then took the sample suspension hoop and sprayed one side of a leg and it blended great. If you can notice it in the picture then well done. We also did part of the crap sample paint I did with Audi Dakota Grey so to check on that.
I am completely happy with it so I have 3 x 400ml cans to spray the frame over the powdercoat and have 2 cans of satin laquer.
It cost me £78 but I don't need a sprayer to do it.
If its successful and anyone decides they would be happy to get some please contact Kent Car Panel and Paint in Maidstone and they will be happy to make you some as they have all the details of the mix they did for me. Just say the custom 93 frame paint and its £12.95 +VAT per 400ml can.
Phone number is 01622 752821

The match looks good Albie.
It was a good idea testing it on one end of my suspension wishbone as the colour looks the same in the photo's, but the colour in the photo's isn't quite the same as reality if I'm remembering correctly.

Good stuff Albie, and excellent sourcing a paint match for future use, I may well be giving them a ring soon. Cheers!

Any idea which colour the exhaust manifold flanges were originally painted?
They are silver/aluminium on mine, but photo's appear to show black?

Looking through my Ducati Monster Bible (thanks Santa!) it looks like the flanges were black from the first Monsters up to 1999/2000 when they changed to silver. My old 2000 900 IE definitely had silver flanges.

I spoke with Kent Paints this morning about getting some paint like your's Albie. The helpful assistant explained that they don't keep records of matches, but if I'd like to drop in with a sample, they can probably match it!
Ho hum! Onwards and backwards.

Finally getting back on it. Spent yesterday removing rubbish from garage and a sort out Tumble dryer and cupboards gone more space. Bike table moved to wall and access good.
This morning saw the bike go back to frame only and a rub down to key paint Whilst it was sunny and wind free I gave it one coat. It's good paint and covers well and one can did a good job. It's looking like I thought it should finally and getting pleased again after much disheartened first colour. Pics later hopefully

At least the powder coat should be a good base for the paint!

Yes the powdercoat helped big time at least.

Gave it one coat with a 400ml can not quite empty either

Tomorrow more paint if warm enough.

Excuse the bonking pigs they were inherited from my late parents and needed a home.

Nicer colour inside without too much sunshine

The first colour was tragically wrong for early.

Update

It was a month ago when I started painting the frame . I was waiting for some sunshine to lacquer it and finally it came along today so its now done ready to build up again. Now I am satisfied I can get back on it and paint the engine this weekend.
I did have an issue with frame numbers to which eagle eyed GT noticed I stamped a plate but that's now removed and have tried as best I can to feather the area of powdercoat away showing numbers.
I wonder can anyone print dot matrix onto a clear decal vinyl as an obvious clue.

I believe Darkness has at last got paint from my supplier who forgot about my colour they made so hopefully its available on asking now.

Now also I need to get my other forks fitted with new oil seals asap.

Hoping it looks a little different but its now satin lacquered and back on the bike lift ( that's not the grey box btw ) for loom and rubber grommet install tomorrow.
