sorry if this is turning into a bit of a thread hijack.
the key is if you’re not melting the parent metal, it’s brazing (or even more vaguely hard soldering below a certain temperature)
if you’re melting the parent metal, it’s welding

Not a hijack at all, as you have explained some of the processes involved in making that lovely tank, beautifully. I and no doubt others have learned something too. Thank you Slob.

Here you go FJ43.

I stole your images from the 'other' Ducati forum, uploaded them to Postimage and hotlinked them.

It's lovely by the way.

No worries.

In postimage, hit the share button, then the Hotlink option, then just paste the link text it gives you into the forum.

Hi Gary
Thanks for that, I think that you must have seen the Tab 2 Classics Facebook, I don't have one.
The Tank is indeed the work of a real craftsman, in fact craftswoman, the main fabricator is the daughter of the founder of the company.
I went to them with photos of my Monster and a TT2, with the brief make it a close as you can to that look.
I think it works, top is basically TT1 and sides Rob North Trident, it holds 14 lits.

What is the thing mounted on the top yoke with a cable just in front of the ignition switch?
