Update copied from facebook, after an incident in practice at Graham Hill bend

From Stafford

"Dan lost the front right in front of me and I over braked in avoidance and went down. Dan at A&E but passed ok after my bike slid into his back. Dans is worse than mine. Hopefully just big hammer will fix most except the rev counter that's trash"

(I'm guessing this is a before crash shot)

From Dan

" I went down mid turn. Slide across the Tarmac. As I hit the rumble strip I felt something big smack me in the back. That was Staffords bike. At home now though. No broken bones. Had my whole spine x rayed. Just bruised"

(Pretty sure this an after crash shot.... but I could be wrong)

Oops. Sounds like a bit of Autoglym isn't going to polish this out.

Hopefully, you'll be back up and bouncing in no time.

Get well soon fellas.

Not the best start to the DD season

Hope you are on the mend soon Dan, and that Stafford manages to get a few more laps in this weekend

Ah Crap!!

Sorry to hear both of you have had a sh1tty start to the season but glad it's 'just' the bikes that need to be repaired- never nice to hear of people falling off!!

Get well soon Dan!!

For those that don't know, Graham Hill bend is a horribly off camber corner at the bottom of the hill after Druids Hairpin and the first of only two left handers on a lap of the Indy Circuit.

If you've ridden the circuit at a pace then you'll know just how much you're trying to scrub off speed after accelerating out of Druids and down the hill before trying to get back on the throttle on the way into Graham Hill bend to counter the off camber and to stop the bike pushing wide on the way out.

A map does not do this justice but here it is anyway:

The left kink just before it doesn't help either

...Just spoke to Dan, he's okay but very sore after an extended checkup and multiple x-rays.
Hooray for quality back protectors!

Ouch.
Glad there seems to be no major injury though.

Cheers all.

At home at the moment, feeling a bit bruised. But nothing broken.

Will probably give it another go at Pembury in a month. Gives me a bit of time to let the bruises heal, and get the bike back together.

I've never been a big fan of Graham Hill bend either. I'm always a bit weaker on left hander's due to my prothstetic leg, and the adverse camber makes it worse. Had a few moments there myself so treat it with a lot of respect now. I think my session at Rockingham helped my confidence last season. It has a lot of fast left hand corners that really forced me to push myself harder. I just need to learn to work on my body position and hang off the bike more

Spoke to Liz earlier, Stafford was repairing the bike for this afternoons race.

Fingers crossed all goes well for him, and that he is out again tomorrow.

Cheers
Stuart
