Existing halogen headlamp units shouldn’t be converted to be used with HID bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp.’, so a HID fitment is OK, whereas a HID bulb in a H4 type reflector an lense isn’t.

Thanks for clearing that up Darkness, I was told by a tester that HIDs can only be fitted to vehicles with self levelling suspension and as there are no bikes fitted with it I assumed that would make them illegal.
