Even I couldn't have made that one up... my mum had been nagging my dad to buy it for her for almost 30 years and then I found an original 7ich in an old record store in Paris!

Allow me to tag onto the end of this ancient post with my own anti-Metropolis mini-rant:

My M695 is due its 3rd service (7500 miles). Ducati Aylesbury, fine purveyors and repairers of all things Ducati, quoted me £350-ish, which sounded quite reasonable. But they're miles and miles away, so I thought I'd try Metropolis, as they're on my way to work and very convenient.

Rang them up last month, got a quote - £200-ish the guy said, before consumables. I thought that was a great price and booked it in for 15th May (tomorrow morning as I write this). I just called them to confirm the booking and asked "just to confirm - around £200 for the service, ex-parts right"? "Erm, actually Sir, it's going to be more like £800-£1000". Pi55-takers.

I am now booked in at Rosso Corse later this month and will avoid Metropolis at all cost... their poor Ducati reputation plus the above are enough to steer me clear for good.

Erm, Oliver, third service at 7,500 miles?

My third service is 12,000 miles or two years whichever comes first! The first was 600 miles, second 6,000 miles and the third one at 12,000 miles, no such thing as a 7,500 mile service.

Why do so many of the main dealers have such bad customer service? I bought my 620ie from Ducati London South in 2003. At the 600 mile service, I pointed out that the oil filler cap was leaking, so they replaced the rubber gasket. When I complained that they charged me 50p for it (surely it's under warranty?), they said that it was a consumable, and inferred that I was being petty about it.

Petty? Maybe, but I never went back there. They closed down last year....

Just had my 3rd service done (7,500) today. Must of imagined it?!?!?
If your bike is on a 07 plate or later I'd check your warranty....

Mine's 06, and subject to the much advertised new service schedule, so 600m, 6,000m and 12,000m; can't believe they've reduced the interval when they made such a song and dance about increasing it for the 06 M695!
