though it could be any of the above, my final guess is that Benson's Hypermotard is now decorated with pastel-coloured paper doily stenciling.

As for the stencilling - your knowledge of these past times is really impressive and we bow/prostrate ourselves before the master of womanly skills with a darning needle and d'oily (note the mechanically based spelling as opposed to the proper one)...
