Amazing race. Here's hoping the rest of the series lives up to that!

Whether you like him or are called Kato, there's a reason he's called the GOAT and he demonstrated that with some style this weekend.

One thing you can say about Marquez is that he is good a running all kitted up. Doing a lot of that lately. Brilliant racer but needs to be more thinking.

I think he's in training for a new event at the Rio Olympics that's not been publicised yet!

Seems the week hasn't improved for Marques, dislocated, broken and now plated little finger in a an MX crash....

I think the odds of Vale winning next race has just improved a touch

I think we've seen in the first few races that the Dr doesn't need his rivals to be injured for him to beat them on the track. Can't hurt his chances though

I think that Rossi now has a psychological advantage over Marquez. It is something that Valentino works hard at. He knows it can make all the difference. In sport it's known as the Manchester United effect. Once you are successful you just keep winning because your opponents stop believing that they can beat you. A few more wins in the next few races and Rossi will have the rest of grid back to believing that he is the unstoppable force that he was 10 years ago. At that point he becomes very hard to beat.

Marquez keeps saying in interviews that Rossi is his idol. That's probably not the right frame of mind to be in if you are trying to win. Who really wants to get the better of their idol?

I don't know about that. I don't think Marquez is the sort of rider who cares about such things. That sort of thing works with Pedrosa easily, Lorenzo too if you can get into him but Marquez is just young, fast and fearless. It's shaping up to be a great season.

I'm fairly certain it works on everyone. Maybe some more than others. I suspect that all of the top riders work with sports psychologists to try to gain that extra 1% of performance that a psychological advantage will give them.

If you notice Marquez no longer referring to Rossi as his idol and talking about how much he admires him you'll know that the HRC psychologist has had a word. Rossi always used to refer to riders who weren't a threat to him by their first name and those who were by their last name. It's subtle, but it can make a difference to how you treat them on the track.
