I was resisting new monsters as 821 never had enough power, original 1200 up to 2016 was not good to tamed. Never believed 1200R would be any different. Went to buy 2017 S, got a test ride on both walked out with R, 0 regrets.

Basically while 2017 S is way better bike then 2016 or older 1200S it is still tamed to tamed. It makes you feel like riding a 1290R duke or other big nakeds. Power and handling but no agility.

Here comes 1200R that adds agility and roughness.

I will however say one thing it is not a good commuter bike when slippery and cold casue of those traits.

Little sacrifice Keeping my R and getting SF only when R is paid off.

Kinda agree with you. Riding position is good, feels quite comfy but lack of screen will make it hard work. They had a bling’d version, must have £10k of extras but both looked untidy around the engine. Would I trade the 1200R for one? Not a chance!

Had a look at the latest KTM Superduke R, thought the overall quality was not great, looks cheap compared to the Ducatis. Some pretty funky CCM bikes on their stand, they looked well made.

Chatting at the show today, apparently the factory still has a few red ones, so ask your dealer nicely and you might still get one
