HH, if the other partys insurers are dragging their feet, threaten them with court. It will cost the other side £800 to £1000 just to attend a hearing. Preparation will be extra and when they lose, they'll have to pay your sides costs too.
I had a guy accuse me of knocking his mirror off after he cut me up. The outstanding claim was costing me on my insurance renewal, so I told my insurers that he should take me to court (over £60) or drop the claim. They dropped the claim.

It's currently in the build up to.
Unfortunately before going to court it has to go through a pre-action protocol, which is where I am currently at. The 3rd party insurers know it's now in the hands of my solicitors and I have a hire bike costing £60 a day and will go to court if they don't cough up, but by law they have 3 months to put a case together. Is annoying for me, as I'm without the bike. However, the longer it goes on the more it's going to cost them due to the hire bike. I guess they have to get his side of events first. As it's a clear cut case and I have a witness you would have thought they would just pay out.

you're right - it will have to go through the motions, but as you say it's costing them more every day so they'll be likely to put pressure on their insured. If they wait the full 90 days it will cost them £5400 before they're anywhere.
My honda was knocked over by a cabbie and the guy denied all knowlege even tho I had a load of witnesses. It seems to be the way they work.

It's fecking stupid, isn't it. £5.4k + near on £3k for repairs (due to mods) + personal injury + damage to clothing + legal costs. Makes you wonder.
No wonder our fecking insurance premiums are so high!

I always have everything fully comp now and with legal cover and no claims protection, luckily I'm old enough with enough no claims to make it worth my while. It's unfair that they make it so expensive for younger riders/drivers. They say the uninsured drivers are pushing up the costs but if the insurance wasn't so expensive there wouldn't be the problem in the first place. It's a stupid situation. Perhaps we ought to form our own insurance company purely for us, we have the contacts between us to make a go of it. I am sure we could do it far cheaper than the rest.

Definitely going fully comp from now on. For all the recent hassle it's def worth an extra couple of hundred pounds. Thankfully I have no claims protection too.
Now setting up our own insurance company would be a good plan. No restrictions on mods / open cans / ability to go to specialist repairers etc. All we need now is to win the lottery.
