> Why cant they just give you the best price straight away save the fecking about.
cos they rely on you not challenging the renewal price to make a profit. they're just trying it on. my mum always just renews house insurance without questioning it - drives me up the wall. i pointed out to the bloke a Swinton who did my home insurance last year that i was being charged £79 for something that he'd thrown in for a tenner the previous year. i said i'd go without the cover this time. he said "OK i'll do it for you for a tenner again". mental. |

Bennets -V- DI - No contest
Recently SOLD my 749 that was insured through ebike. Cancelled insurance on line and got a cheque for £17 (for the 1 month that was left to run) within 10 days. No hassle probably because I didn't need to speak to a human being !
Buying a new 696 in a week for the 1st March and phoning round for a few quotes as they do vary. Bennetts was the cheapest by far - £85 for 12 months fully comp, but that's 12 months for the price of 9 deal. The rest are between £120 - £150 max. Although Ducati Ins are just brokers and you actually are insured through Norwich Union - I'll be using them when the time comes to insure my beauty. Last edited by Banus; 14-02-2009 at 06:07 PM.. |

What you could of done was told them you were selling your bike and you wanted to insure a stupidly modified bike, race prepped 1098R etc, they probably would have referred it to the current insurer (as Bennetts are a broker) and my guess is 99.9% of the time the current insurer would have said sorry we won't insure you and we will have to cancel pro rata.

I took out some temporary insurance with a company called Rampdale who specialise in Chinese Bikes. Bought a cheap one for my son to pass his A2 test on. Anyhow I bought the bike in Dec 2007 and told them my son wouldn't be 17 until early Feb 2008. I wanted cover so i could ride it in the meantime as a cheap work hack through the winter.
They said no problem and I could add my son when the time came...Problem was when the time came they said my son couldn't be added and the only way for him to be insured was to have his own policy with me as a named rider...Ok I said we'll do that so please cancel the existing policy...Fine they said but had to charge me a fee due to cancellation. Ludicrous and when challenged said it was their insurance companies policy and couldn't be changed!! Because the bike was Chinese it was very difficult to get insurance elsewhere so we went along with it..So 8 months down the line and my son passes his test and gets rid of the bike and cancelled the policy. Told couldn't have a refund even though 4 months remaining because not their policy!! These companies are really taking the p**s. Been with Hastings for 9 years with my Monster and always challenged renewal and got a competitive deal. Got a cruiser which I share with my son (he's into that sort of thing!) insured with Bennets so wait to see what happens renewal time. My wife's old Honda is also now with Bennetts. They underquoted her for me and my son to be added. They notified us of the mistake but have honoured the policy...A difference of £180. Good deal in my opinion. |

I had bennets, moved house and try to charge me 25 quid for the change of address, told them to forget about it as it was due to expire in 2 weeks, took my chance ( I know I shouldn't have done but well..) and 2 weeks later changed company. Just told the new company the new address and got Bennets to send through the no claim bonus to them. Wasn't impressed with the service, and after all I've heard, I'm not going back.
