It did occur to me that this might still be a stocked item and I was going to call Moto Rapido tomorrow. Not sure if the one you have shown is quite right, as I think mine would have had a slight lip on the switch end to stop it falling out when the lever is operated... There seems to be a slight witness of that on the switch side of the hole, but I don't know.

Thank you also for the offer to post me one.. I'll see what they say in the morning.
I am quite hopeful now, as they stock the seal kits for these very early Brembo masters so maybe the pin is available too.
I think this master is pre-Monster in design and was used on the Paso and SS models, but the pin might be the same anyway.

It looks like this part was used on a huge range from SS to Superbike to Monster so hopefully it'll work on yours

I'm only 15 minutes from Moto Rapido so picking them up wouldn't be a problem, just let me know.

Just had a chat with Ducati Paddy http://www.ducatipaddy.com/
He is a very helpful chap and tells me that the button is just a piece of nylon rod 5.2mm x 5.2mm and comes with the switch, which he stocks @ £22.95. Admitting that's a bit steep just to get the button, he suggested using a 13/64" ball bearing which is near as dammit to 5.2mm.... Splendid fellow..

What a helpful chap. That sounds like a good, quick fix. Just don't drop the ball bearing - that'll disappear even quicker than the plastic plug!

i recall someone on here had made one from one of those large plastic cocktail stirrers, the kind you find on bars. I've seen them in Asda too.

Moto Rapido do have them in stock.
Rubber buffer 19540021A.. It's a quid. So problem solved.
Just need to make an order up to £10 so they will post it. No problem as I keep sump plug washers and exhaust gaskets on the shelf... Must be due for a re-stock.

Thanks for the heads up Luddite and all the other tips along the way, except for Darkess's suggestion of making one in Titanium...Good job I know you're joking..

Just to re-iterate my praise and recommendation for Paddy at http://www.ducatipaddy.com/
He stocks an impressive range of seal kits for Brembo brakes, but is also happy to take time giving out very useful information and tips.
He can't supply seal kits for the Goldline callipers but he put me onto www.powerhouse.uk. as linked to by dacs above, they are the only suppliers known to him for the Goldline seals.

Definitely a couple of links to add to your favourites there, especially if you own an earlier bike.

I moved the Monster out of the workshop yesterday, to make some more space to work on the Norton.
I thought I stood on a piece of pea shingle with the side of my boot, and pinged it across the floor.....Only that little bleedin' brake button weren't it..

I once searched for hours for a single nut that I had dropped when working on my old Z1 Kawasaki.
I retraced all my steps and looked everywhere three times.
And "everywhere" turned out to be exactly the right place to look .....
I eventually found it in the turn-up of my jeans.

Did you get on ok without the drift then ?
I could still knock you one up pronto if you need it (for refitting maybe/even).

At least you have a one spare now. I'm still looking for the battery terminal bolt that I dropped into the frame when I changed battery a while ago, it didn't drop out onto the floor so its still in the bike somewhere.
