Have a look here:-

http://eu.banggood.com/wh_buy/Eu/Camera.html

I don't know what the quality of the stuff is like and I cannot personally recommend them as I've not ordered anything yet. But its cheap. About £20 quid for a camera and a screen.

Looking good, Ash.

I have Oberon bar-end mirrors on mine and I get on well with them .. but I think "lanesplitters" are possibly a more user-friendly design
Although I also thought that the camera idea might suit the lines of your bike better.
Its too techy a solution for me, but each to their own.

Yes but no but ...

I have a camera & rear facing camera on my bike. It does work - and is surprisingly resilient in all weathers. It also has that 'wow' factor. However, there are a couple of things to be mindful of:

1. the focal length of the camera. Mine shows everything in a wide screen (I guess for parking etc) so makes everything look far away. This is very different to a mirror which is easier to gauge the distance of rear objects.

2. Mounting the camera. Vibrations can make the camera quite shaky so placement needs to be considered. Another thing re placement would be to mount it under something / in between something so that rain doesn't blur the lens.

A couple of things I would do if I updated my set-up would be:

1. a switchable lens / two lens system so you can have a wide / close view
2. rig it to a recorder so you can record rides - much like a dash cam.
3. Also mount a discrete front mounted cam - switchable of course

I also mounted a single rizoma bar end mirror in addition to the camera - for piece of mind.

Hope this helps

You could go for it and try mounting 2 bar end cameras!

I guess that tells a story.

I have a single one of these on my Dommie thumper.

Tbh I thought it would be way too small .. I only had it because it was on an old pushbike that my mate was chucking out.
Its pretty tiny.
However it all depends on the particular layout on the bike .. style of bars, riding position etc .. and also on how you need it to perform.
On the Dommie I just need to flick my elbow in momentarily to see in the mirror, and I don't find that a problem.
Also, I only need it for non-essential glances behind .. I always check over my shoulder if I'm planning a manoeuvre anyway.
I dunno what the mot regs are but the Dommie passed last year with only this mirror fitted.
Its certainly neat and wouldn't disrupt the lines of your bike too much.
Its non-bling black plastic too, but that's ok in my book .. and it won't corrode if you scratch it.

I've got CRG lanesplitters on my Monster and they work very well despite being quite small, however (as per Utopia's post above) it depends on the layout of the bars.

I was researching which mirrors to use for my Guzzi and so borrowed the CRGs from the Monster to test them but found them totally unsatisfactory with the clip-ons as they were too low and too far back meaning by the time I'd moved my head to look at them, I might as well had looked over my shoulder and then I'd lost focus of what was ahead etc. So, for now at least, I've stuck with the original style 'Mickey-mouse ear' mirrors.

Your clip-ons are not so low or far back so they may be OK or perhaps better with some bar-end mirrors that sit further forward/upward rather than just being on the end of the bar?

I've seen small bar end type mirrors mounted on Monster frames instead of the handlebars, not tried it though.

I don't have mirrors on any of my bikes, not a problem for the MOT and it does force you to use your head. I would never trust a mirror only before making a manoeuvre anyway and I don't tend to do much motorway riding when a mirror would be of more use to spot those cars coming up the outside at 3 figure speeds.

Wow! Thanks for all the posts everyone. I will probably try the bike without mirrors first and see how that goes. I like the idea of the camera but I wouldn't want a big screen on my dash, I had bar end mirrors before and they sometimes do ruin a bike look. I will have a play.

I'd like to Thank everyone on the forum who have helped me along the way to rebuilding this bike, I'm sure I will have more questions in the future.

Ducati Monsters are the best and there's no denying it!!!

Nice! What's the headlight? And did you just fancy beefier yokes or do they change the stance?

The light was bought on ebay last year(about £70), I cannot find it as it was too long ago. I wanted black anodised yokes, these are IMA yokes bought mainly for looks.

I really like this job. Love the front light and LED display pannel. How much would that be and does anyone know anyone who could do it?
