I actually bought them to put on my 998 but I was stuck for what to do for blanking caps once I'd removed the mirrors on that one - also whether to remove them at all as they are part of the look of the bike.

Then I sold it anyway and had them left over.

Then I bought Doris :-) and could only see my shoulders .....

They certainly look OK in the pictures.

As for fitting, on the Monster mine are clamped onto the handlebar rather than a bar end, I needed to move the controls inboard to do it but they're long enough to do so and it stops anything moving.

On my Bicycle I have one fitted to a (motorcycle) bar end as the bars are too short to move the brake lever inboard and it has a tendency to turn inside the bar although I'm sure you could get better fitting bar-ends?

But AFAIK 'fat' bars are only fatter in the centre section, the ends should be the same diameter?

Thanks Tim. My bars are the standard Sie 7/8" or 22mm alloy bars. They are thicker wall than steel. If I remember correctly the 'ole in the middle is about 12mm, so it might just be a matter of some slightly longer bar ends if the mirror body will fit them.

OK, I thought you meant the outside diameter.

I'm sure my Renthal bars on the Monster are fairly thick-walled, certainly thicker than the clip-ons on my other bikes and so needed smaller ID bar-ends.

The picture on that ebay listing appears to show 2 different internal fitments for the bar-ends so may work OK with the smaller ID? Unless you fit them directly to the bars which is what I'd recommend if you can get away with it.

Be interested to see the mirrors though because they are certainly a better price than the CRG.

The Switch Blocks should be pinned so if they are either new holes in the bars or file off the pins that are just moulded into the plastic.

I'd already cut the pins off as they prevent moving them to suit and I don't like the idea of drilling the bars.

Heh. It doesn't take too many M3's overtaking you at 50 over when you're being law-abiding but need to change lanes before you come to the conclusion that admiring your elbows isn't really good enough...

I've ridden bikes without mirrors for years. But on the Monster, my chin hits my shoulder and stops me looking behind enough to be safe.

I put a pair of those on a 900; they're fine. The extra expansion sleeve is not used for thick-wall ally bars (my Dark has 900Sie bars). Other cheap generic bar ends may use a rubber sleeve; these tend to rotate with vibration - the metal sleeve is a more positive mounting IME.

Thing to be careful of is that they're concave mirrors (which the listing you posted was) - otherwise, can be not very useful looking at tiny images in a 3" mirror 2 feet away.


I had several pairs bar of end mirrors, and most were OK in fit/function (beware the very cheap ones). In the end, I reverted to bigger mirrors closer to my line-of-sight. The only reason the stock mirrors are totally useless is because the stalks don't get them out far enough from the perch to see anything but the inside of your elbows...

These don't look flash, but work great - if the stem were ~20mm longer, they'd be about perfect, but they do yield a view directly behind in about 50% of the mirror if suitably adjusted. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303550224455.
