I've got new gaskets for the 1100 motor, don't know if they are the same.

no, the case changed at the end of the mk1,
i’m not even 100% sure they’ll be the same on dave’s 750, as the early 600/750 are quite different at the bottom, although mostly on the clutch side. Last edited by slob; 14-07-2019 at 04:12 PM.. |

I always use a small artists paintbrush to apply the 3bond, it is less messy & gets a good coverage.

Does the small artist mind having threebond in his brush?

You could always use one of the wife's make up brushes - she'd (probably) never know |

I've done the job twice now with three bond over the last few weeks. Fitted a new starter motor from Electrex and didn't realise the drive gear had to be swapped from the original motor onto the new one so the case had to be taken off again......
There was no sign of any of the newly applied sealant "leaking" into the engine, I applied using the nozzle cut to approx 2-3mm. Case back on again and no signs of weeping (either from me or the case) PS - fitting a new starter motor has made a huge difference having already been down the up-rated cables/battery route previously over the years. |

My alternator cover is leaking again after I recently three-bonded it back on. It is obviously down to user error so I have ordered some gaskets off Ebay.
I figure these are less prone to crap mechanics with shakey hands will let you know! |

You could always smear threebond onto (both sides of) the gasket...

Are you being serious?! I will try anything. Drained the basically clean oil last night but will put new oil in...so thats like 30 quid in the bin already!
You could actually see the leak path from inside to outside close to the really fiddly bit next to the sprocket. Am I the only one who can't make sealant work! To be fair I should have cleaned and prepped it better. I think some oil might have run across the threebond because I put it on the engine side not the cover side. |
