I would say that the 750 is a much better engine than the 600 too, a lot more umph than you would think over the 600. I couldn't see that silver 750 project on ebay, so it may have sold.

Well thanks to all posters.
Yes I missed that 750 as i've been searching under bikes.
I didn't realise the 750 / 900 are light too.
I'd certainly prefer more oomph and yes I did find the 620 a little under-powered for my needs.
Lots of food for thought now.
Just got to sell my CBR.

When considering the limited budget, don't forget that a 600 / 620 / 750 will be an appreciating asset, so you haven't actually "spent" the money, just transformed it into something you can ride and polish. Zero depreciation = free fun! So, what I'm really saying is, don't worry if you spend a little more on a 750, the money is safe and can be turned back into cash if ever you need to ...

Yes thanks-I do appreciate that.Some bikes I could buy in bits for £50 25 years ago now going for 100 times that!(Showing my age now!)

I have had 900 Monster but now have 3 750 model s they are just as good almost as quick although I miss the 6th gear

Well my new bike arrived last week and I'm really pleased to be back..........It's ready to go but I'm going to attend to a few jobs / upgrades over the winter.

from the perspective of having had a few 750's I'd rate the older carb model as motor wise feeling a bit perkier than the injection version. But the long intake is the same so they both act as portable ice making devices, but only when the air temp and humidity conspire. Both could do with a bit of suspension tweaking but if you hang on to them they'll cover the ground quick enough to hang onto a 900.
Planted and a great ride even in challenging conditions... Done blizzards ... Done floods with the water up to my knees (feet on pegs!!!) ... They Just kept going

Not planning to get my bike on the road until early Spring so hopefully carb icing issues will be minimal. I used to rum a ZX9C1 model Kawasaki which suffered from this problem and I know it can be a real pain under the wrong (right?) conditions. As Enbee has observed my bike is pretty clean so most of the winter work will be basic maintenance and keeping in check / resolving a few minor age related corrosion issues. Hope you are getting to grips with the M900 now Nick?

You will still get the icing issue in the spring particularly if you ride early mornings on fast open stretches of road. It's one of the main reasons why injection is better and for me personally I wouldn't go back to a carb 2V because no matter what you do it still does it.

I seem to recall there's an additive you can use IIRC?
I'm not a big fan of fuel injection-I've had lots of problems with KTMs and Guzzis in the past although I do have a modern Royal Enfield Interceptor with faultless EFI ! I particularly wanted a carbed model when I came back to the Monster. At least carb icing should be only a temporary problem dependent on the prevailing weather.
