Thanks for that. Will browse the paint racks this weekend.
If you have the original tool bag what tools were in there if known. Got one from USA today in lovely condition.

You can't go putting an extra allen key in there, Albie.
That wasn't how it came out of the factory. Ps. hope you're not waiting for that exhaust clamp piece. I haven't been able to get any time on the lathe lately, but hopefully will do this week. |

No rush mate. Extra tools hmm not sure but looks unused like the other bits. No marks at all on the tools.

A couple of days off from work so rather than doing nothing I set to work making rather than buying a a seat clip for the new or spare seat copying the original. You never know if one will show up on ebay as generally come with seats which I don't want or are the second type with the pin fixing. This is once again a basic fabrication measure, cut , bend and get welded and plated.
Pin was a 6" nail with galvanising wired off and some 1.5mm plate scrap. I made it with threads so it could be welded like that correct and then nuts and bolts removed when tacked and finished off after. Now I just need my mate Big Oz to do the welding stuff for me.

I remade the vertical plate as I wasn't satisfied with the width being a 1mm narrow and that hole where the rod goes through was to clearance. Also tighter crisp creases too now.
The clear heat shrink came in the post so covered the end connectors and tidied up the sheathing. Engine is as good as I am prepared to remove paint etc and now just needs going over with a scourer in a warm and clean atmosphere. Spare tank I drilled out the broken fuel cap ring keep bolt but the thread was knackered and rusty so now tapped 1mm over size to M6. I just will clear the hole in the ring now to 6.1mm. Received my closer rocker in the post from Tim and put that in the heads parts box to be reassembled soon.

A better pair of front forks colour wise bought on Ebay for £60. Mine although good condition wise are more faded will be up for sale.

Got my forks today delivered and very pleased with them overall. The colour is definitely better
Condition of the feet is on par with the other except the I of DUCATI is damaged on the right leg (sitting on ) but original has a scrape on the bottom. I can swap out the better bits as I think one leg has an oil seal gone so will be changing them as a matter of course with fresh oil. This could be the way of getting the springs done better. Also got the NOS 1993 owners manual still sealed in a cagiva wrap.

Its been a while since posting updates basically because I have been doing nothing to the bike. Came to a halt and a decision not to fast forward just because of a desire to finish for the UKMOC Weekender. I don't think it will be there sadly because I do so much to get engine up and finished and that costs money I need for my wedding. Yes we are getting married finally that's me and Caroline not me and the bike.
The good news is though that today I picked up the heads, barrels , intake tubes and valve cover plates from TSR vapour blasting. They look really nice now back to original material and is a shame they need overpainting.

Very clean engine parts: Did you find a paint match for the rocker covers Albie?

No but will be looking tomorrow for sure to get paint on them soon as. If the engine had been available stripped before crank done I would have done that too . Carbs are too fiddly to strip for me.
