Albie, are you sure you shouldn't have one like this for the clutch case?

My '97 bike did before it peeled off (I still have it in a folder) as I think Agip was recommended until TPG took over and they struck a deal with Shell.

Also did you ever contact Motostars about the quality of the decal they sent?
The one I received is spot on exactly the same as the original on my seat cowl so presume yours may have been a dodgy one they missed(?). I wouldn't have said about them if I thought they were crap.

No I never realised that may have been an Agip too. Not stuck on yet anyhow. Bit pricey that one so will ask Image works to sort. I have used them in the past so I know they are good and the Moto Rapido race team etc use them. No I didn't reply to Moto Stars as generally couldn't be bothered and stuck the decal on the spare cowl and sold on. Its no ones fault but I cannot remember what the advert said as to description. I have no doubt they make a good range of correct decals but been burnt now and Image can now have my pennies. They always state if you want something send them the image and they will create.
The things I learn every week is fascinating and all comments much appreciated. At the end of this I have no doubt I will still be unhappy with the frame I reckon. Not because of the colour but possibly its more later. I can live with that though for a while at least.

Tank sorted

Some days luck is down. Some days luck is with you. I spotted an early tank on Ebay start bid £30. Looked tidy albeit 2 not hefty dents but dents needing some work to pull out shall we say. All underneath clean and tidy and with the seamed front.

I will say the last few moments no one had bid so whacked on a final bid of £136 because I wanted it whatever.

Won it for £43.30 or £30 plus the postage.

Happy..... Very. It can sit and wait to be done at my leisure when I can afford the respray.

Maybe. I did wonder that. Maybe the slightly later one fits off mine I need to check. Could have been a whole lot pricier and bear in mind decals and paint etc. The hinge area looks ok but I am thinking about getting Big Oz to weld it prior to paint to make sure.

All this for that little front area.

Well worth brazing round the hinge pad....Crazy not too before painting.

Be good to have a photo of the "little front area" for reference on this thread...

Here is the early tank with a seam I think up to 97 ?



And possibly after 97 until plastic tanks or I.E's . Its got a smooth front area and this is mine fitted to my bike. And just fitted that Agip decal too.

You seem to be collecting more than one monster with all these parts!
My 1993 m900 is sorted and clean and would be used on nice days like today but a recent project has taken my focus:

All the fairings are being slowly refurbed so I am running with a fly screen for now.

That my friend is the 1st Italian bike I ever fell in love with. A 16yr old going to college on a fs1e seeing a 1978 T reg Moto Guzzi Le Mans in red. Oh please take the image away....

Maybe Crust will let me have his project.

You know it is sometimes disadvantageous to follow the torque.
Many of those settings are quite light.
For those, I go with ring spanner hand-tight, quarter turn and check with torque wrench - usually right
It is so easy with poor threads/old bolts to overtighten with the torque wrench as it does not give you the feedback of the rigid and light spanner.
....just saying....

Do you know your right. I never usually do use one as I only had a real long one for wheel nut on a single sider.
I was reckoning on doing this one right as far as by the book BUT wasn't going to crank up using a long bar. My s4 conversion never had anything more than arm torque.

I went out and got a small torque wrench and was amazed on the price tbh and its a Draper with a certificate of calibration that's pretty good if honest and well within those tolerances.
I posted purely because I have wanted a list in one page not every chapter of the manual and as a guide and I always see peeps asking this and that torque and realise its really an early version.

There were some bolts I tightened by hand and just did a check. On the click or just under so I am happy.

I paid just £22 for this on ebay inc post and is approx. 12" long and handy size to use.
