Weekender update

Firstly I hope everyone remains well and coping with restrictions.

The September date I previously announced is still an option however there is a wedding party on the same date, long story but the bottom line is we would be in oscars bar on the Saturday and only get the side function room on Sunday.

Helen has mailed me giving the option of 9th October, there was a wedding which has now moved to next year so we get the rooms we want, it's obviously later in the year.

Sorry for posting, it does not seem important given what's going on at the moment,I just need to respond to her.

I honestly can't predict what will happen, if I am honest I think it's 50/50 , I know people are hesitant and quite understandable, I am myself to be honest.

Can those that have booked let me know either,

Stick with September but share venue,
Move to October
Cancel for this year.

Thanks, stay safe

This is a really hard one!
Deep down I want everything to be okay and enjoy a great time at the Weekender.

But I don't think I would be at all comfortable staying in a hotel and sharing indoor space with folk (nice folk too.) just yet.

I am also uncomfortable with riding around en masse with other bikes and rolling noisily up to local attractions in Wales, known for it's unfriendliness to outsiders at the moment.

Reluctantly I think I am going to vote; Cancel. Sorry.

P.S. My vote is not a reflection of your efforts Mike, and I would probably turn up if it goes ahead.

I would echo Gary's thinking on this. I just don't think the situation will have significantly improved by September or even October this year. All things considered, I would be reluctant to attend any mass gathering for any reason for the foreseeable future.
I think it would be sensible to cancel the event for this year.

Reluctantly i think i will have to cancel this year's weekender, obviously no fault of our owns, basically due to being financially under paid (furloughed) and having to spend a considerable amount on my camper in the last few months.
Thank you for all the organising etc, hopefully next year will be bigger and better.

Weekender cancelled

Regrettably ......this is the right thing to do, thanks to those who have posted and sent me pm's.

I hope we all get through this, it's bigger than any of us could have anticipated, we now need to get used to the new normal and see what next year has in store for us all.

I have mailed Helen and told her the descision to cancel, I have refunded all deposits via PayPal, please let me know it it fails to land.

Please stay safe and thanks to all for your support, until next time,

Mike

I’m on the cancel side I’m afraid. Although it would be lovely to have an event to look forward to, I think there’s still too much uncertainty. I don’t think it’s fair to keep you or the hotel hanging on with a might/might not. You’ve had two tough years of organising and reorganising so have a few months peace!

It's the right decision, Mike, just one of those unforeseeable things nobody would have imagined

Tracey & I also agree that cancelling it for this year is the right thing to do. Such a shame but thanks for the work & efforts you've put into this. It'll happen next May!

Mike,
I also believe that cancelling is the best for this year no point putting ourselves at risk.
Looking forward to 2021

Sorry for the late reply, I agree that with all the uncertainty around at the moment cancellation was really the only option. Thanks once again for all your hard work & I look forward to the opportunity of meeting you next year.
