Excellent choice matching the swingarm and the frame - looks fantastic Albie!
I'm sure a paint shop could match the bodywork to the red of the frame if you wanted to stick with red as the main colour? Otherwise I reckon a metalflake silver would look nice with the red and black? Keep it up fella! xxx ps. still think you should have chopped the rear while you were about it x |

Your thinking along the same lines as I was originally. Tbh I wanted a new colour and was considering metalflake silver. A kind of brighter senna. Im not the slightest bit down about it and very much upbeat its a new bike. Thank you for your comments. They are very much appreciated.

Exactly!, that's what I thought when I saw the wheels too...
I know of a very good paintshop in Horam (near Wessons Cafe) - excellent quality, not dirt cheap, but worth the money - they did my green monster, and the fairing on my new Rally bike... They specialise in metallic and flip-flop type paint (do a lot of insurance work for TVR/Lotus etc) plus classic restorations... If you want to try them for a quote: CG Coachworks - 01435 810061 and ask for Clive or Simon. xxx |

Its looking great, the silver sounds great too. Or perhaps (my other half's idea after I showed her) white...just to throw something in the mix

Doing fine Mighty fine
Well apart from the panic the other nite about the paint which left me in a lull for a whole 12 hours it a seems bright .The future is not orange but a kind of reddy orange. The tank is planned but its going to have to wait a week until I get her started hopefully over the weekend if all goes well.
Well I was very busy last nite thanks to Barbican sending me a cd manual with all the wiring looms routes. I wasn't far out it was just the under the battery bit. Anyhow the wirings all rather tidy and with all the no cable ties its looking very smart. So most parts are now connected up and fuel lines are ready to hook up to the tank. The radiators now on yes I know they look ugly all you aircooled fans but with the red hoses it looks rather cool. Airbox was a squeeze and all other hoses on and drain hoses in their retainer clips. What I find so nice is the fact that it feels like and looks like a brand new bike and thats worth the effort. Whats the worry is that I have a lot of bolts over in my container where I have replaced with stainless so I cant tell if I missed one out Right hopefully will post a couple of pics 2moro in good light to show you more detailed shots. Its still going to change in my plan. I have some leds to fit in places.

Nice, I was thinking of matt black for mine until I saw yours! Black is such a natural colour for a Monster - imho!

Black is good if your brave.
In my opinion black is good but Im avoiding the black tank. The black footrests and controls do look mighty fine in satin black. Dont go down the route of spraying them its not cost effective and will rub off.
I put a new brake line on yesterday on rear and its black one. Looks good against the red. Put some led's on in subtle places and looked good at dusk. I nearly chopped a couple of inches off the teatray but too scared

Albie, why do you say brave?
I've only used the plasti-kote matt black on bits that do not get lots of wear, clock surround, headlamp bowl, etc. Its very easy to apply. |

I say that only as when someones as in myself unsure what colour to do. Sometimes its an easy option and hides a multitude of sins. My engine painted silver was because of scabby paint and I thought of a change. I deliberately chose black for the hangers as they were all perfect nick.I wanted the non in your face look.
Maybe Im wrong in my opinion and I accept that . Sorry

No, I agree black is the easy choice for Monster's and I was looking elsewhere for the same reason. But when I asked my better half (whom I trust with picking colours and hasn't a clue about Monster's) she immediately saw the bike and said black!

Come to a dead stop
Well im fed up and cold. Damn thing wont start and I ve given up for the day as I cant see in the crappy garage light and its too cold to open the garage door.
So Im at a stage of not knowing whether its electrical or not enough/no fuel. It once again tried popping a few times but once again battery got tired. I fitted the side stand and chain guards and run the cables for the led lights I have put on. I have started rubbing the tank down and used a hairdryer to remove the tank guard and ducati decals. They certainly seem to put them deep in the paint. I have had to prime the tank as some parts back to metal and will need a decent rub back when a final decision how the tank will look. Looks quite nice in a different colour but only on one side. Anyway had enough today so leaving it alone until tomorrow.
