1993 Monster 900
Hi all,
Sad to say it but the time has come to part with my very early 900. As photo hosting is easier, I’ve put a thread here: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/thread...ter-900.98002/ Give me a shout if you’ve got any questions or are interested. I’m open to sensible offers Ped

That's actually a very decent price for that. If Ibwas wanting an early 2V that would be up on my list. GLWS

Sorry you need to sell it Pedro, proper piece of Ducati history and an old friend, I think that's a very reasonable price, hope it goes to a good home!

Very nice indeed Ped, what a gem.
Sorry you have to part ways, I hope it stays in the club. Hope you don't mind me posting your pictures here? I like to see the old un's. Ped's words.. After a great deal of consideration and change in circumstances, I need to find a new home for my 1993 Monster 900. I’ve owned it for 19+ years, I was Moto Rapido’s first bike sale when they opened up as a small independent shop. I had a huge amount of fun and met lots of great friends over the next 10-12 years, but other bikes have come and gone so the 900 effectively came off the road and has been dry stored ever since - I last had it running about 3-4 years ago with new belts at the time. it is a very early build, around April/May 1993 and was imported from Germany by Metropolis in London and first registered in August 1993 and was fitted with Road Racing dash and rev counter. Over my time I’ve added other period correct parts like the Leo Vince cans and a dynojet kit and open air box & air filter plus a few other parts. I have all the original parts stored away (even the very early silencers and carbon heal guards). All paint is original aside from the engine side cases. Forks were fitted with Hyperpro progressive springs and it wears a 888 Showa rear shock (original is here too). It also has an Electrex reg/rec as the original died. It’s done about 36k miles from memory, I had the heads off at 25k, cleaned them up, serviced and re shimmed them. Barrels still had honing marks and new rings were fitted. It still had four “snap prone” studs so these were replaced to match the other four that had already been done. It alway ran well and felt like a “good one”! The bad bit is that the tank has cracked at the hinge, very common on the older bikes. A buddy tig welded it with bronze rods (I think) but there is still a pin hole or crack as petrol still weeps through a little. Otherwise, cosmetically it’s a 30 year old bike so it’s showing its age as you might expect. It’s a prime and perfect candidate for a restoration which was my plan but things have changed. Early 900 bikes are starting to appreciate , I wish I had the time to do the restoration myself. (the oil tray is just there for storage!) As for price, with all my stash of bits I’ve forgotten to mention including a couple of early fly screens, I’m looking for £3,250 ideally but I’m open to offers, drop me a private message and we can arrange a chat.

Thanks Gazza
As said, I’m open to offers but not giving it away! Not leaving the Monster fold, still have the very epic 1200R, that’s going nowhere

If I hadn’t just bought another 916 I’d have that it’s a no brainer.

Now I know that time marches on regardless and that change is inevitable, but the first Monsters were really what set my heart alight and I just had to have one. I finally made it happen in 98 and have kept it ever since, (I'm strictly a one bike kinda guy). Recently I parked up next to a recent Ducati and asked the rider what it was... it of course turned out to be a Monster too. A nice looking bike but not the "stand out" bike that the original Monster was back in it's day.
Good luck with the sale.

Looks very nice indeed. I'm not in the market for a Monster or any bike at the moment but I would be straight on this if I was.
Good luck with the sale and, somebody get this bought.
