Smile New 97 Monster 600 owner from Tasmania.

Hello, and thanks for allowing me to join the forum.

I recently purchased my first Ducati after a lifetime of Japanese motorcycles from all four major manufacturers, a 1997 Monster 600 in yellow.

The bike needs some work and a few things sorting out.
Then once it is riding and running okay I will decide if I restore it or customise it.

I have started looking through the forums here for relevant information and have purchased a Haynes and factory manual for servicing, as well as downloading online versions.

The bike has been running this year when the previous owner bought it and then had it inspected by a mechanic. The PO then tells me he drained the battery trying to start it not knowing the stand had a safety switch.

Time will tell if this is correct.

Hello and welcome.
Look out for local meets. I'm assuming Tasmania is in Wales?

I've got the same year M600 - made has NO side stand switch (and the wiring diagram confirm that!) although it's an Italian import so I suppose they may differ. Hope you get it running OK, they are pretty simple and easy to work on. Yellow is of course the best colour!
