Rejet?

Hi there all...new to this forum...thanks for accepting me.
In my 68 years and over 60 different bikes I’ve just bought a 1993 M900 which is my first ever Ducati.
I’ve fitted a pair of Tergimnoni end cans and running standard air box and filter.
Is it necessary to rejet or Dynojet to suit.

Welcome to the forum John. I've no experience of carbed monsters but other carbed bikes I've had always benefitted from a rejet.

Welcome aboard, John, and congratulations on finally getting yourself a Monster - you've tried the rest, now ride the best!

Way back in the dim and distant, Ducati themselves used to offer a jet kit in their Ducati Performance catalogue. It was made by Dynojet with the part no. 08062 then 96413497B.



It's no longer available from Ducati but the Dynojet branded version can still be found. You'd want a stage 2 kit, Dynojet no. E7206 e.g.

Yep the 900’s respond well to a Dyno-Jet kit along with a K&N air filter and the open air box mod.

When I did mine many years ago the K&N air filter came with a template to cut the box open.

Top tip- buy yourself a secondhand air box lid to save cutting your original one so the bike can be returned to standard if that’s still possible depending on what other mods may have been done over the years.

Oops! I misread your original post, John. I thought you were already running the open air box, for which the stage 2 kit is designed (E7206).

If you're running Termis but sticking with the OE filter and lid, then a stage 1 kit would probably be more appropriate (E7106) e.g.

Spotted this earlier, it's the pukka DP filter kit and will save you chopping your own lid.

You should think about earplugs with the open air box, the induction roar is quite loud but in a good way, it complements the termis & dry clutch to give the full orchestral effect.

You're so right, Mark. That was one of the things I loved most on my S2R - when you cracked open the throttle, it sounded like sitting astride a V1 (I imagine!).

My experience of the early carb'd bikes is that it isn't necessary to rejet when running just open cans and using the standard airbox lid and air cleaner element, but if you go to open airbox and free flow air filter then you definitely do!
